First Revelation

The prophet Muhammad began spending time in solitary meditation in a cave on Mount Hira as he approached age 40. During one such meditation in the cave, he received his first revelation from the angel Gabriel, who commanded Muhammad to "Read" and recited the first verses of Surah Alaq. Muhammad was deeply shaken by this experience. When he related what happened to his wife Khadija, she reassured him of his role as a prophet, and took him to her cousin Waraqah, who also confirmed Muhammad's prophethood. This marked the beginning of Muhammad receiving revelations and his role as messenger of God.

LIFE AT MAKKA

CALL TO BE A PROPHET (P.B.U.H)


 As the prophet approached the age of forty.
 He became found of loneliness and solitude as he disliked corrupt society of Makka.
 He started retiring to cave of Hira on the Mount of Light (Jabal-e-Nur) 3 miles from Makka.
 He used to do meditation there.
 Once it was the Night of Power, one of the last odd night of the Ramadan. When Jibrael.
appeared. The holy Quran says: “Indeed we revealed it in the Night of Power”.
 Angle asked him to read but he said: “I can‘t read” as he was as unfettered man.
 Angle hugged him tightly thrice and then recited the first five verses of Surah Alaq. “Read in the
name of thy Lord who created. Created man with a clot of book. Read and thy lord is most
bountiful. Who taught man they use of pen. Who taught him what he knew not”.
 The prophet felt that thee verse were printed on his heart.
 The angle then disappeared and the prophet was left behind shocked an contused.
 He was shivering and suffering from fever and decided to back home.
 When he was coming down from the cave, someone called him.
 He was jibrael sitting in a chair and suspended between the sky and earth.
 He said: “Muhammad you are the messenger of Allah and I am Jibrael”.
 He rushed to his house and asked H. Khadija to cover him with a blanket.
 When he recovered, he narrated the experience to her and said that he would die if it will
happen will him again.
 She was a wise lady. She comforted him and said, “You have never done any wrong to any one,
you are kind to other and you help the poor. Allah will never let you done”.
 She took him to Warqa ibn Nsuful. He was her cousin and fad knowledge of previous scriptures.
 After the listening to the story of Muhammad, he confirmed that he was given the prophet
hood.
 He even informed him that a day will come when Makkans will force him to live the town.
SIGNIFICANCE:
 The Holy prophet was informed about his mission and purpose of life.
 This events marks the beginning of revelations.
 He was honored with prophet hood and his status was completely changing.
 It was the result of hi medications. The Holy Quran says: “And he found you and wondering and
he give you guidance”.
 It was the first meeting with Jibrael and unique experience of his life.
 It was also the end of prophet hood at last messenger and book was sent down to the earth.
 It was the first ray of the light of guidance in the complete darkness of ignorance.
 The event brought a revaluation that changing the entire world.
 This event was only important for the prophet or for Arabs, perhaps it was the most important
event in the history of the World.
