IV Name & Date Eng. Katrin Marji
Submission Format
You are required to submit a concrete admixtures Presentation
The presentation is in the form of a 10-minute individual presentation and 5 minutes allocated for
questions. This assignment covers learning outcome 3 only, while other LOs will be assessed by in-
class examination.
Unit Learning Outcomes
LO1 Examine the three constituent raw material components of concrete: binders, aggregates, water, and
study some of their properties in the lab.
LO2 Demonstrate fundamental knowledge of the fresh and hardened properties of concrete and study some
of them in the lab using conventional methods along with conducting non-destructive testing.
LO3 Identify the functional role of chemical admixtures and their advantageous relating the desired concrete
properties.

Assignment Brief and Guidance
The Scenario
A leading company in construction chemicals field seeks to operate in Jordan, and you have been appointed
by them in the quality control department. The company will establish cement manufacturing factory and will
produce a wide range of cementitious products in addition to concrete admixtures. The company will run a
consultancy and application services for the global and local construction firms.
Your employer asked you to prepare a presentation for the new employees (technicians and consultant
engineers). Your presentation should describe types of admixtures and their effects on Portland cement
concrete.
As you are developing your presentation, you are expected to describe the function of air-entraining
admixtures, water-reducing admixtures and how they are controlled. After that, you are asked to identify
additional types of chemical admixtures and their application in solving construction problems.
General Guidance:
1. Do not limit your ideas, Be Creative!
2. This is an individual work. Thus, you should be cautious about Plagiarism.
3. You can use any suitable software to do your presentation.
4. The presentation should be clear, to the point, and structured.
5. You can make a visit to a similar company after your department’s approval to collect data, pictures,
videos, …etc.
