Introduction

Nawaloka hospital was founded by Deshamanya H K Dharmadasa in 1985. Since then it has
immensely contributed in upgrading the health sector of the country while being the pioneer in
introducing several advancements in the field of medicine. Among such introductions Nawaloka
stands as the first hospital to cater its patients with world class health services utilizing CT
scanner, MRI scanner, and mammography unit introducing the flat panel-angiography system
with state-of-the-art technology. Furthermore Nawaloka is the first hospital to undertake laser
eye surgery in Sri Lanka.

In the journey of becoming a leading health care facilitator and a provider in the country,
Nawaloka is concentrating on the famous quote of "Dhamma Padhaya", “Arogya Parama Laba”
or “good health is supreme wealth” in order to deliver an unparalleled health service to its
patients. Therefore their contribution in enhancing the health sector is phenomenal, discouraging
the need for seeking foreign medical assistance. Hence catering for the vulnerable groups who
are unless otherwise cannot afford such advanced health services at a low cost budget.

Nawaloka is also integrated with fully equipped laboratory facilities that strive to deliver high
quality health services and their network of sample collection centers & branches are located
covering many areas in Colombo and nearby cities outside Colombo for convenient access.

While accepting the challenges and adapting accordingly in the field of health care Nawaloka is
working under a strategic plan for its long term success in correlation with the well experienced
and multidisciplinary team of faculty and staff. Accordingly business is driven on following five
