Melissa is always practicing appropriate pedagogical practices and strategies according the students' needs and task and skill being taught. Melissa deserves a Proficient mark in this category because even though
she is not always comfortable with some math content she is aware of it and prepares accordingly. I have often noticed Melissa researching skills and topics to be best prepared with the content.

This is one area where I was very impressed with Melissa's natural ability. She demonstrates knowledge of her students like a veteran teacher. She has a worldly attitude but also meets students on their level. She is
empathetic to their needs, she speaks to them clearly, never yells but remains firm when necessary, she puts their needs first, accommodates, modifies, and shows them that she cares. The students accepted her
quickly.

Melissa spent the last two weeks of her residency improving in this area. She learned that actives and tasks operate better when students are clear of the expectations. Melissa tried modeling and allowing students to
model expectations before giving the "go" command. She has actively used this strategy to operate transitions smoothly. Melissa is also a very organized planner. Her materials are prepared in a way where a fifth
