Precise Less Tedious: Reiteration Method

This document describes the reiteration method of measuring horizontal angles with a theodolite. The method involves measuring several angles successively at a station and closing the horizon by sighting back to the initial point. Any discrepancy between the initial and final vernier readings is equally distributed among the measured angles. The procedure is demonstrated by measuring angles AOB, BOC, and COD, with the telescope directed to each point in turn before closing back on point A.

iii) Reiteration Method.

This method is another precise and

It is generally preferred when

several angles are to be measured

This method consists in measuring o

several angles successively and
finally closing the horizon at the

Procedure
Suppose it is required to measure

Then to measure these angles by o
