Module-79A: Primary Treatment of Waste Water

The document discusses primary treatment of wastewater. Preliminary treatment consists of separating floating materials, heavy solids, oils, and greases using screens, grit chambers, and skimming tanks. Primary treatment then removes larger suspended organic materials in sedimentation tanks, which operate on similar principles to sedimentation in drinking water treatment. Primary treatment provides basic physical separation of solids from wastewater in preliminary and primary steps.
