LEAD MATERIAL ENGINEER – DIRECT HIRE CONTRACT –


KAZAKHSTAN
Our Client, a Major international Oil and Gas contractor, is looking for a Lead Material Engineer to
work on a project based in Kazakhstan.

QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE:
 The job holder must have a Bachelor’s degree in material engineering and at least 6-8 years’ experience
background specific to material engineering in the Oil & Gas Industry;
 Preferable to have qualification/certification in one of the areas such as:
o mechanical testing of materials, non-destructing testing;
o coating, cathodic protection, welding and inspection of pressure equipment (pipelines/tanks, etc.)
 Experience/familiarity in welding engineering and corrosion engineering;
 Experience with materials selection and testing for Sour Services application;
 Experience of taking decisions in projects as Technical authority or subject matter expert in materials.
 Experience with high alloy material (CRA).
 International Welding Engineering diploma is considered a plus;
 Familiarity in NACE MR0175/ISO 15156 – Petroleum and Natural Gas Industries – Materials for
Use in H2S containing environments in oil and gas production
 Familiarity with NDT inspection technique, certification ISO 9712 level 2 in any NDT method is
considered as a plus;
 Very good interpersonal and communication skills and ability to create friendly working
environment;
 Good abilities to read, write, understand and explain documentation, share information with others
and train and develop QC engineers and other QC inspection staff;
 Very good English skills (written and verbal);
 Computer skills required as follows: Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Power Point

JOB SCOPE
PURPOSE
 Responsible to support QAQC department in the evaluation of QC inspector technical report;
 Support engineering department with technical specifications review (related to material
engineering);
 Attend and lead pre-inspection and kick off meeting with Suppliers and Vendors;
 To support and assist QC inspector activities during manufacturing process for all related material
inspection;
 To support realization and approval of Manufacturing Process Qualification and Specification
(MPQ/MPS);
 Maintain close communication and alignment with Company’s Materials and Corrosion TAs
(technical authorities) on major decisions regarding material selection and vendor qualification.
 To supervise/review mechanical and corrosion test execution/reports;
 To review material selection reports and liaise with Materials and Corrosion TA2/3 on approval;
 Responsible for engage his job efficiently, in good faith and on reasonable grounds in the best
interests of the company.
 To support/lead root cause analysis investigation

RESPONSIBILITIES:
 To lead Suppliers and Vendors during the MPQ execution;
 Review and approve MPQ test plan, follow up test execution and MPQ/MPS approval;
 To review and approve test reports verifying compliance with Company specification and
applicable Code& Standards;

 Review material certification liaising directly with Vendors and Suppliers to ensure materials
certificate approval prior to site shipment;
 Review technical data sheets and material requisitions;
 To participate in root cause analysis investigation;
 Perform or review material selection reports;
 To interface with Company’s corrosion engineers and/to review corrosion testing procedure;
 Evaluate corrosion test reports and advise about outcome;
 To witness laboratory test execution and review and approve material test reports;
 To liaise and support Company welding engineers and NDT engineers activities;
 To support Company Code & Standards team in the Company STN review process.

Rate: US$ 500 per worked day net of Kazakh tax

Duration: 1 year renewable

Status: Single status Residential basis working 5 days a week, 8 hours per day.

Benefits: Client pays medical insurance/medical evacuation, Accommodation (single status


standard). 50 work days of annual leave (unpaid) and 3 paid home leave return
flights per residential assignment year (1st trip after 3 months of work).
