Music Lesson Plan

Title: “ Round and Around They Go” Grade Level: ​Kindergarten

Materials needed:

Hula Hoops
Tambourine
Maracas

Procedure:

A.S: “What do these instruments sound like?”

1. Have students sit in groups of 4 around a hula hoop


2. Each student should have their own instrument
a. 2 maracas and 2 tamborines
3. Use the song “Round and Around they go”
a. When they hear “round and around they go” they must pass their
instruments in a circle with their group
b. When they hear “stop the music”, they have to stop and play on beat
with whatever instrument they have in their hand
c. Pass instruments around again
4. Repeat these steps until the end of the song
5. Have students put instruments in the hula hoop when finished

Closure: “how did we know when to pass the instruments?” “how did we know
when to play them?” “what instrument was your favorite to play?”
Educational Objective: ​ ​By the end of this lesson, students will have learned . . .
To listen for the cues of the song, manipulate and play instruments, attempt to play
on beat
