Chapter 1

THE PROBLEM AND ITS SCOPE

INTRODUCTION

Rationale

Security is one of our priorities these days. Various control systems have been

designed over the years to prevent access to unauthorized user. The main aim for

providing locks for our home, school, office, and building is for security of our lives and

properties. It is therefore important to have it unbreakable and must have a convenient

way of achieving this.

The basic necessity of security can be attained by designing various door locks

such as mechanical locks or electrical locks. These kinds of door locks are designed

with one or more keys, but for locking a large area various locks are needed. Generally,

traditional locks are heavy and are not that strong as they can simply damaged by some

tools. Today, because of the technological advancement, most device uses digital

Technology. Identification of digital device using token, automatic door opening and

closing, automatic door lock systems and so with the door lock system using Arduino.

These kinds of systems are used for controlling the movement of a door without using

the traditional key.

Nowadays, school security has been a major issue because of the increase in

damage of property and everybody wants to take proper action to prevent unauthorized

access in school classrooms. By this, we conducted a study which is RFID based


Security Door Lock using Arduino as one of the security measure to be installed in

school that could prevent unsupervised entry or worst from a possible theft of any

classroom property. The classroom only has normal door knob and door lock keys

which are left open during class hours that is why students can freely spend their free

time inside on open classrooms charging up theirunfavorable gadgets or refreshing

themselves on the unfavorable hot climate.

Thus, the goal of this study is to create a more effective way in maintaining the

security in school. RFID based door lock enables classrooms to be more secured in any

kind threats. We added a database in our project to keep track and monitor everyone

who entered the room for the purpose of maintaining school security. Moreover, the

improvements of this RFID door must outweigh the complications of implementation.
