01. Base

Usages of base form of the verb;

 We use base form of the verb with modal Auxiliaries.


 We use do, did and does.

Rule:
 We cannot transform base form of the verb.

 Three (3) ways to transform a word in English.


➢ We put s/es where needed.
e.g; plays.
➢ Change the tense.
➢ use “ing”.

02. Present

 We use this only in Simple Present Tense.

 Note: put s/es where needed.

03. Infinite
 Whenever there are two main verbs in one sentence,
first will be used according to its tense and 2 nd is
called infinite.
 e.g. ; I like to play cricket.
Note:
 Infinite form of the verb is always followed by “to”.

04. Past

Usage:

 We use past form of the verb is Simple Past Tense.


 e.g. I slept yesterday.
 I played last night.

05. Past Participle
Usages:

 We use past participle in all Perfect Tenses .

➢ Present Perfect have done


➢ Past Perfect had done
➢ Future Perfect will/shall have done.

 We can use P.P with helping verbs (passive voice)


➢ Is,are,am,was,were,been,being.
➢ e.g. Cricket is played by me.
 We can use past participle form of the verb as an adjective .
e.g. Broken window.(Participle adjective)

06. Present Participle
Usages:
 We use present participle form of the verb in all
continuous tenses. e.g.
➢ I have been teaching.
➢ I had been teaching.
➢ I will have been teaching.
 Note:
Is always followed by progress in the sentence.

Gerund
Usage:
 When we use “ing” form of the verb as a noun. (Smoking
is injurious to health)
 After preposition.
 2nd Main verb in the sentence. (I like playing Cricket)

Note:
 There is no any progress in gerund.(generally )
