Background
Cox is seeking a Junior Cloud developer role to help design and build our interfaces, APIs and integrations to
provide automated self-service capabilities for internal customers to consume existing public and private cloud
services (e.g. IaaS, PaaS, networking, storage, etc.)
Junior Cloud Developer Role Summary
The Cloud Developer works within an automation team to help establish and orchestrate the guidelines for
development, maintenance, and support of Cox Communication's private cloud infrastructure that includes
network, database, security and cloud services architecture components
Work Focus Areas:
IT process automation and orchestration
DevOps and application release automation (i.e. CI/CD)
Cloud infrastructure automation (i.e. provisioning, configuration, and management of bare metal, IaaS, PaaS,
and NFV resources)
Web application development (e.g. APIs, back ends, user interfaces)
Responsibilities:
Inject software architecture design patterns and software engineering best practices into infrastructure operations
Help Cox build out self-service IaaS, PaaS, and NFV via end-to-end automation that achieves the following goals:
o Deliver compute, network, and storage resources and DevOps tooling for 80% of customer requests
in two days or less
o Maximize developer and app owner flexibility in consuming cloud services
o Raise user satisfaction and consumption
o Improve service uptime by reducing human error
o Minimize manual handoffs between teams
Build out service APIs for consumption by app-dev and automation teams in a service-oriented architecture
Design and deliver robust, feature-rich interfaces that are easy to consume and understand
Identify automation opportunities and solution reusable automation workflows
Codify, deploy, and manage automation across different domains and teams
Qualifications
Experience and Skills:
Technical
Experience with Python, Ansible, or equivalent languages. Plus if proficient with additional development languages
such asJavaScript, Bash, Java, etc

Familiarity with enterprise application design patterns and anti-patterns
Understanding of software engineering practices including DevOps practies and tools, API development, micro-
service architectures, API Gateways, and SOA frameworks
Knowlegede of cloud technologies for public and private cloud. Plus if candidate is familiar with IT infrastructure
technologies such as: AWS, Azure, Kubernetes, OpenStack, OpenShift, VMware vRealize Suite
Ideally candidates will also have hands-on experience with:
o Configuration Management Tools – Ansible (preferred), Puppet, Chef
o Build Systems – Jenkins (preferred), Bamboo, Travis, CircleCI
o Infrastructure Orchestration Tools – vRA/vRO and Terraform
o Container Orchestration Technologies – Kubernetes, as well as PaaS/CaaS platforms such as
OpenShift or Rancher
o Logging Systems – such as Elastic Stack, Splunk
o Data Visualization Tools – such as Kibana, Grafana, Wavefront
o Monitoring Systems – such as NewRelic, Appdynamics
Interpersonal
