Overview
This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to contribute to the
processes of identifying work health and safety (WHS) hazards, assessing
WHS risks, and developing, implementing and evaluating risk controls
according to legislative and organisational requirements.
It applies to individuals who contribute to WHS risk management processes in their
work role in a range of industry and workplace contexts.
Assessment summary
You should work through the content and activities in the learning resources, then
complete the assessment tasks. It is important you wait for feedback from Event 1
before you submit Event 2.

Assessment tasks
Assessment 1
Task 1
You are to search legal requirements and best practice approaches to health
and safety in your state and territory. Please provide short and succinct answers
(no more than 100
words) to each of the following questions (1-8). Question 9 requires an extended
response of around 500 words.
Task 2
Outline a WHS/OHS information session for your organisation’s
managers/supervisors, outlining the key legislative requirements under the Act.
You may wish to use some of the responses from Task 1 to help you.
