POGIL Learning Model On Sub Material Substances and Limiting Reagents Can Increase The Activity

This research studied the implementation of the POGIL (Process Oriented Guided Inquiry Learning) model in a 10th grade chemistry class on the topics of substance levels and limiting reagents. Student activity levels increased from the first to second meeting. On average, 78% of students achieved mastery of the learning outcomes. Students responded positively overall to using the POGIL model, with 80% giving good feedback. The POGIL model was effective at increasing student activity, learning outcomes, and positive student responses in this chemistry class.

Abstract

Research has been conducted with the title "The Implementation of POGIL Learning Model in
Sub Material Substance Content and Limiting Reagents in Class X of SMA Negeri 1 Peukan
Bada". The purpose of this study is to increase activity, completeness of learning outcomes, and
describe students responses to the POGIL learning model on sub-material levels of substances
and limiting reagents. This research uses descriptive research and a qualitative approach. The
sample in this study were students of class X MIA 1 at SMAN 1 Peukan Bada as many as 32
people. The instruments used in this study were interview sheets, student activity observation
sheets, test question sheets, and student questionnaire responses sheets. The results of
observations of students' activities at the first meeting amounted to 78.57% and at the second
meeting amounted to 88.69% so that they were included in both categories. The average
percentage of mastery learning outcomes in classical students is 78.13% with a good category.
The implementation of the POGIL learning model obtained positive responses from students by
80.17% with a good category. Overall, it can be concluded that the implementation of the
POGIL learning model on sub material substances and limiting reagents can increase the activity
and completeness of student learning outcomes, and good responses are given by students to the
application of the POGIL model.

Keywords: POGIL, substance levels, limiting reagents, student activities, learning outcomes,
student responses.
