I-Deas Theory Paper Duration: 1 HR Score: 50

1. Sketch on path is used to create a plane normal to a path (curve) at a specified point, allowing you to sketch and create features associated with that plane. 2. To reset the work plane to the global 0,0,0 origin, go to the align menu and select the option to align the work plane to global. 3. Using sketch in place associates the feature to the surface on which you sketch, whereas aligning the work plane does not create this association.

3 the work plane to that surface?
4 How can you rename a library part?
Can you change the status of a library copy part to reference or checkout? If yes, under
5 what conditions this can be done?
6 What are the extensions of I-DEAS model file? What data is stored in them?
What is the use of copy with notify over copy with out notify while you are getting part
7 from library or checking a part into library? Which one is preferred?
You have created a cross-section for a part using cross section icon. Then you will get

8 break the association?
When can you change the plane of the cross section, which you have created using cross
9 section icon?
I did a surfacing operation, which I want to join to my existing part. Now when I do a
surfacing operation it gets Added up to the history rather than join. How can I change my

22 base feature to other base feature?
23 What is the difference between mesh of curves and surface by boundary?
List two ways by which we can find whether the modeled part is surface or solid? Which

45 What do you understand by purge symbol?
46 Can you put views of two different configurations of an assembly in the same drawing?
47 Of what use is view visibility command?
I have hided some entities using view visibility command and export the drawing. Will get
48 the entities that I have hided?
How do you remove the coincident witness lines of dimensions automatically after
49 placing the dimension in drafting application?
50 How can I create multiple sheets in a single drawing file? (1/3, 2/3, 3/3 etc)
Sketch on path used to create a plane normal to a path (a curve) and specified point
Go to align – pick work plane – RMB – align to global.

Using Sketch in place will make the feature associated to the surface on which you are sketching and this is not the case with the other option.
Yes, we can rename a library part, but the part that has to be renamed should not be checked out by any user.

Yes we can change, but the part that we have copied should not under go any modifications, after copying.
.mf1 and .mf2. mf1 stores model data and mf2 stores graphics data.

Copy with notify will notify you if the original part gets modified, where are with copy without notify we will not get this intimation. Copying with notify is preferred.

Pick the curves – modify – break associativity.

When the cross section you have created are associative.

Go to ^M – modify – special techniques – replace operation, and change the operation from add to join. You will not loose and relationship by doing so.
Yes. Go to ^M – modify – special techniques – reorder feature to reorder the features.
Area options can be accessed by RMB area option. Area opt…..
Appearance – pick the dimension – units and decimal places – change the number of decimal places here.
We can switch of automatic wireframe update in update options. This is required if you are modifying multiple dimension.
Patterns are used when a array of a single feature is to be built.
Relations.
A * indicate that the feature is associated and a red node indicate an error in operation.
Retain immediate results options is useful to make the software store the result below a particular node specified. This will speed up you update process. This can we
Yes, it is possible to insert a feature between two. It can be done by Roll Back option.
No we cannot do it by interference icon, but we can do it by intersecting the part and coming back without save.
This error occurs in cases where wireframe is drawn on a reference plane or part-face and uses focus points and/or sketch-edges in your constrained network. When t

Yes, we can move the associativity using modify – move associations.

Ask for the properties of the part. If you get open surface area it is a surface.
No.
Yes. In hierarchy use add parent icon.
It breaks the instance’s relation with part and makes the instance a new part.
My using browse relation icon
It checks the interference between instances.
Explode icon exploded the assembly either linearly or radially, by the distance mentioned. No the relations are not lost if you explode an assembly.

We can delete an assembly only from manage bins.

Using library.
Hide hides the instance from the graphics window. Suppress will temporarily delete the instance from the assembly.
Join all command will join the entire assembly and create a part.
No. while we are duplicating software is creating one more image of the part, where when we are copying it is creating the part itself.
Assembly cut is used to perform cut operation on more than one instance.
Lock will lock the instance at a particular place. It is like anchoring in wireframes. Fuse is temporary locking.
Assembly compare is used to compare different assemblies or different versions of same assembly.
Select same icon in hierarchy form
No.
Assembly cut.
While creating section view in drafting we have a option of skipping a instance of an assembly which is getting sectioned.
If exported symbol should be deleted from our home directory.
Purge symbol is an operation to delete symbol, which is part of drawing file.
Yes. Use change geometry option to place two configuration of an assembly.
View visibility icon is used to control the visibility of the layers.

No.

Respace Dims icon can be used .

To create multi sheets select multi sheets in file menu, then select create sheet, then enter the name for the sheet and select the views you want to put in that sheet
