1. Why would ethics be important to a company like J.M. Smucker? How can its focus on
values and ethics improve its business performance?

 Acting Ethically is a key element of success since J.M Smucker company focuses on food, I
think that acting ethically specially when the business is in the food industry is essential
element on creating trust between the business and consumer. In a consumer’s point of view,
I think that when a company is doing right in terms on how they treat their product, people,
and their customers it boosts their morale and further their ties with a company. That means
J.M smuckers company will increase its productivity and profit, having said that I personally
think that the connecting to people will boost the overall productivity of the company.

2. Appearing on “best places to work” lists can increase an employer's popularity, even
among lower-qualified applicants. The increased volume of applicants can be costly and
time-consuming. What do you feel are the benefits and drawbacks to being on this type of
list? Do you think that it is generally beneficial to be publicly recognized as a good
employer? Why or why not?

I think that being recognized as a good employer is not a bad thing at all since what
matter the most to Smucker, what to the company is having an already strong personal
value applicant. It might be costly but when you think about long-term it would be
beneficial to the company. Having a large volume of applicant is not also a bad thing
either because the company has a lot of choice to pick. I think aside from the cost and
the time consume for having a increase number of applicant, I think much of the
drawback comes from new applicant having to high of expectation, this I think could
lead to disappointment in some part but I think that’s the only drawback that I see so
far.

3. Do J.M. Smucker's values and culture appeal to you as a potential employee? Why or
why not?
Yes, personally it’s appealing to have a company such as J.M. Smucker not only that the
company is one of the largest company in the world generating billions of dollars in
revenue per year, just looking at the number you would know if the company is doing
well or not and as a potential employee I would want to be part of it. The values and
culture of J.M. Smucker is inspiring because even thou the company is making billions on
revenue it also focuses heavily on sustainability and caring about the environment and its
people who would not want to work there. Also as a person who care about the
environment and people would want to be working in company such as J.M. Smucker, I
think that having the same connecting with the companies goals will become one of the
driving force that could lead to a better results.
