RF Capacitance type Level Transmitter


Capacitance type Radio Frequency level transmitters are suitably used for monitoring and
controlling of liquid / slurry / solid (free flowing) levels in tanks or vessels. No moving parts ensure
any wear and tear. These level transmitters are suitable for a wide variety of applications having a
fixed dielectric constant

Principle of Operation:

With the rise or fall of liquid/solid level, the capacitance between the active electrode and
reference electrode (still well) increases or decreases. The change in capacitance is converted by
the probe head electronics into a current signal, 4 – 20 mA proportional to level. In Non Integral
models, the preamplifier inside the probe head converts the change in capacitance into a
proportional current for onward transmission to the remote Control Unit. The Control Unit
processes the input signal to generate a 4 – 20 mA output.
