Can you give me the definition of abiotic factors?


- Abiotic factors are non-living chemical and physical
parts of the environment that affect living organisms
and the functioning of ecosystems.

That’s Right how about the definition of biotic


factors?
- They described as any living component that affects
another organism, or shapes the ecosystem.

Very Good! Yesterday we discussed about the abiotic


and biotic factors. So I have here a two squares that
dictates the biotic and abiotic factors. And as you can
see we have a plant with flowers on the left side, and (The pupils will identify the different factors of biotic
all you need to do is to pick a flowers and put them and abiotic)
on their respective place if they belong to biotic or

C. Motivation

Are you ready to explore the jungle?

Are you ready to see the different wild animals and


interact with them? - Yes we are ready

But don’t worry because this journey will not harm


you nor put you in danger but rather this will help - Yes we are ready
you to learn more about the world around us. So
while we are exploring the jungle, we will be having
a game entitled “I Survived: A Science Game Show”.

So for the mechanics of this game is as simple as jack


en poy with a twist, so instead of using our barely
hands. We will use our body movements, so we will
imitate the given animals. So if your group wants to
be a worm act like a worm, and if you want to eat a
worm act like a chicken and if you want to eat a

So now let’s begin to explore the jungle with our first


destination which is the place where we can see how
the animals feed on each other. The food chain zoo,
but before we will define what is food chain let us
first look its three categories of food chain.

Our next animals are living on a forest, jungle and


sometimes we see them at zoo. So who among you

Can you name what animals do we see on second
picture?

- Lion
Very good! And what does the lion and crocodile - Crocodile
eat?

- The lion and crocodile eat meats and other animals


That’s right! And why do you think lion and
crocodile is considered as carnivores?

 Omnivores - Because they eat meat or they eat other animals.

Bear

For the omnivores, can you guess what animal is this


one?

- Bear
So based on the picture of the bear that you can see,
why do you think that this animals is considered as
omnivores?

- Because they can eat both meat and plants.


Very good! And if we will identify ourselves among
these kinds of consumer. Where do you think does
human belong?

That’s right! How did you say so that human like us - The humans are considered as omnivores.

And for our second trip we have these different


animals and these animals will teach us the concept of
food chain but before that I will give you these
animals and all you need to do is to make a pyramid
and arrange them based on what they eat.

I will give you 3 – minutes to arrange them and if you


are finished your group representative will come in
front and the group who will finish first will have a
prize.

 Food Chain

The feeding relationship among these organisms can


be shown by a food chain. But what is food chain?

-A food chain is a series of organisms in which each


organism feed on another organism and so on.

So let’s see your work as an example of food chain.

pyramid? (Group representative will explain their work about
the food chain pyramid)
Very good! And because of that let’s all give them a

 Food Web

Let’s proceed on our last destination on this jungle.


So our last destination will be the food web zoo. But
to make the discussion clearly let us first define what
is food web.

- A food web consists of two or more food chains.

A food chain only follows just one path as animals


find food. While a food web shows the many different
paths plants and animals are connected. Therefore a
food web is several food chains connected together.

Mechanics: (The Food Web Star)

For our last activity we will do the food web star. So


we will make a series of food web using a yarn to
make a star.

All you need to do is first I will give you a picture


about the different animals, and you need to do is to
connect these animals about what they eat and who
they eat using your yarn. Just remember we are doing
the food web so it should have a different or many
paths which plants and animals are connected. I will
give you 5 minutes to connect all the yarn to your
group mates. (The pupils will do about the activity)

Now explain your group work.
