FOREWORD
Internship or On-the-Job Training is one way by which we students are
given an opportunity to apply the theories and computations that we have
iii
learned from school. It also help us to obtain applicable knowledge and skills by
performing in actual work setting. Colleges and Universities require their students
to undergo such training within a specific number of hours as part of the
curriculum. For us students, an OJT or internship program provides opportunities
to go through the actual methodologies of a specific job using the real tools,
equipment, and documents. In effect, the work place becomes a development
venue for us student trainee to learn more about our chosen field and practice
what we have learn from the school.
On the other hand, a valuable OJT program also profits the companies
who accept trainees. First OJT or intern provides extra manpower for a less
significant labor cost than a regular employee. Most of them are all eager to learn
the ropes so chances are high that they’ll be given a chance to work on the same
company as an employee after graduation. Employers can use this internship
strategy as method in recruiting employees. Since the trainer or supervisor can
follow the trainees progress, he can gauge based on performance, behaviour
and attitude if the trainee will make good recruit after the completion of his
internship. We trainees can bring fresh ideas into the organization. Given the
opportunity to converse our minds freely and without fear, we may be able to
contribute significantly in brainstorming sessions or research and eventually help
improve the organizations productivity. While training the interns, employers are
in fact also teach their employees to guide the trainees by stretching their
patience, develop teaching skills and make them more sensitive to the needs and
mind set of the younger generation. The course of supervision also teaches them
iv
how to share what they know and be receptive to questions. Hence, the
internship also becomes an avenue in training for future managers of the
company

ABSTRACT
This Practicum Portfolio contains five chapters and its main focus is the
progress reports of the trainee. The first chapter is about the Office Practicum,
vii
second chapter is all about the Company to which the trainee conducted her
internship. The step by step learning and development of the trainee’s working
skill was discussed in his weekly progress reports compilation duly signed by her
Training Supervisor that can be found out in chapter 3, included here was his job
description and the summary of his internship. The assessment of the practicum
program which includes the learning experience of the trainee during the
internship, his experience with the people around him, the most memorable
event during his training, things he can recommend to the improvement of the
Practicum Program and his advice to those who will take their practicum in the
near future is indicated in chapter 4. Chapter 5 contains the analysis,
conclusions, recommendations and references. The documents used to make
this OJT happen is in chapter 6, such as letter of application, resume of the
trainee, endorsement letter, acceptance letter, practicum waiver, confidentiality
agreement, training schedule form, daily time record (DTR), certificate of
completion, practicum evaluation sheet, memorandum of agreement, OJT
Program evaluation of the school and the company and the school registration
form of the trainee. The above mentioned comprises the whole practicum
portfolio. The most interesting part of this practicum portfolio is in chapter 3. Here
lies the trainee’s challenging start like an empty bottle with no idea at all to the
tasks he will do, and how he overcome the difficulties he experienced during the
internship and proudly finished the training with a bunch of learning that he can
apply to the near future in her work.
