- Big ol' list of manga with dating characters (check responses):

e_couple_get/

Caught Up and Regularly Checking:

- Hitomi-chan is shy with strangers (I like the characters, even if the fan service
is annoying/uncomfortable)
- My Fair Footman (Girl disguised as a butler, and nobleman who knows her secret.
They've both secretly fallen in love, and go through shenanigans as a result.
Translation and story were dodgy at first, but it's grown on me--love the time
period, and discussion of gender roles and class division. Deeper than I'd
expected!)
- Karakai Jouzu No Takagi-San *Teasing Master Takagi-San* (Girl who matured
quickly, and guy she likes and teases. Loved the anime, manga has even better
pacing and more content.)
- Sukinako ga Megane wo Wasureta *The Girl I Like Forgot Her Glasses* (Girl who
always forgets her glasses, and guy who has a crush on her. Really light hearted
and wholesome)
- Maou no Ore ga Dorei Elf wo Yome ni Shitanda ga, Dou Medereba Ii? *Evil mage
falls in love with his elf servant--real title is weird* (First few chapters are
uncomfortable, and it falls into the "Just forgive & recruit all of your enemies"
trope, but still a fun story)
- Kubo-san Doesn't Leave Me Be (a Mob) (Guy who no on notices (to a farcical
degree) and girl who teases him. Like Tagaki-San, except less focus on teasing,
more focus on characters liking each other; both mains are a bit more likeable
right out the gate)
- Senpai ga Urusai Kouhai no Hanashi (Workplace; big guy & small girl; cute
relationship. Both obviously like each other, but girl keeps denying it, and guy is
too dense to notice. Typical set up, but both characters are mature, which is
nice.)
- Mieruko-Chan (Girl can see monsters all around her, and tries to live normally
while ignoring them. Really interesting premise, and crazy visuals.)

- The Quiet Komori-San And The Loud Oobayashi-Kun (Quiet girl and loud guy. Pretty
straight forward. Guy has an obvious crush, girl has a more subtle, growing crush.
Fairly new, so light on chapters.)
- Itai Onee-San Wa Sukidesu Ka? (NEET girl without a boyfriend, living by herself
and wishing she had one. Mainly focuses on her being ridiculous, and the narrator
being stupidly sassy.)
- Kijima-san to Yamada-san **CH 7** (Guy who can read minds, and coworker who
really likes him. Cute story with likeable characters. Kinda amusingly hit-or-miss
art [those hands and backgrounds--woof])

Need to Catch Up:

- *FAV* Otoyomegatari (1800's central-Asia; arranged marriage between a nomad and a

more city-dweller. Really digs into the history and culture, and everyone feels
very real and likeable; isn't oversaturated in goodness, but doesn't bother with
unnecessary grittiness. Just some darn good storytelling and art.)
- 14-sai no Koi (Middle school couple that's more mature than their peers, coming
into an age where their relationship changes. Nice story, good art. Addendum: Later
starts focusing on side character more than main characters. On the one hand,
they're really well done, and even include one of the few "girl secretly likes main
female lead" plots that was actually compelling and interesting [instead of joking
about it, it actually explores her feelings and frustration]. On the other hand,
there's been essentially zero development of the main duo for the past dozen
chapters. Worst of all, there are like three middle-schooler/adult couples. Nani
the actual frick.)
- Horimiya (Popular girl and gloomy guy that are different people at home. Really
nice start, but suffers from character bloat.)
- Soredemo Ayumu Wa Yosetekuru (Girl and guy playing Shougi--like Japanese chess I
think. Friggin' adorable and hilarious.)
- *FAV* COMPLETE: Orange Yane no Chiisana Ie (Man and woman both get divorced, then
get conned into living in the same house. All about their troubles as two families
living together. Some of the characters are a bit annoying--like the older daughter
and the woman's sister--but overall it's a sweet story. Written by a Christian!
What're the odds?)
- Bonnouji (Based on a young adult couple. Very relaxed, slow pace. It's alright.)
- Pashiri na Boku to Koi suru Banchou-san (Delinquent girl and bully victim guy--he
thinks he's a gofer, but she thinks they're dating. Misunderstandings abound.
Reminds me of that Nagatori manga, only without the sadism, bullying, and blatant
sexual harrassment.)
- Marry Me!(YUUKI Miku) (Civil worker marries NEET girl because of a farcical new
law. She slowly starts opening up with him around. Really nice couple, but lots of
annoying side characters.)
- Yukuyuku Futari (Seems to be just a sweet story about a nice couple. Light anf
fluffy.)
- Hajiotsu (Girl's afraid of guys, so her friends convince her to confess to a guy
to get over her fear. The guy accepts the confession, of course, so now she's stuck
in a situation she was not prepared for. Cute concept.)
- COMPLETE: Taiyou no Uta (4 chapters. Girl can't be exposed to UV light, but falls
in love with a guy she watches through her window.)

- COMPLETE: Dame na Watashi ni Koishite Kudasai (29yo girl, lost her job and broke
up with her mooching boyfriend; gets a job from her old boss, who's an abrasive
grump with a good heart. Art is kinda hit-or-miss, but the characters feel real and
genuine while still being hilarious. Instant favorite.)
- *FAV* COMPLETE: Futari no Renai Shoka (Guy and girl both really into books; both
have dear memories involving books. Characters have great chemistry and behave like
real people rather than cardboard-shoujo-manga-cutouts. It somehow balances
hilarious and touchingly beautiful at the same time. Beautiful art, too; really
expressive and dynamic characters that--again--feel like more than cookie cutout
manga style. Instant favorite.)
- Kawaii Joushi wo Komarasetai (A series of farcical circumstances leads to girl
waking up in bed with her younger coworker (nothing actually happened). The two
start dating. Pretty funny, with decent art.)
- Sensei Lock-On! (Elementary teacher and one of her students from 10 years ago
(now 20yo and in Uni). Manga has broken me--I'm just happy they're dating after
he's actually a full-fledged adult. Anywho, cute interactions of her treating him
like a student still, and him liking her the same way as when he was young (i.e.
acting like a kid).)

- Game Yaru kara 100-en Kashite! (Assistant manager girl who's tough in the office
but secretly loves obscure retro games, and guy working under her that finds it
amusing. Pretty tame for romance & humor, but premise is neat, and it has some
decet video game history.)
- Akebi-chan no Sailor Fuku (About a girl excited to join middle school. Pretty
standard wholesome/slice-of-life plot, but the art is deceptively beautiful. At
first it seems kinda dated, but the way it captures motion is phenomenal. Gotta
read it, even if for the art alone.)
- Hananoi-kun to Koi no Yamai **CH 13.5** (Girl witnesses guy's intense breakup.
Offers him an umbrella in the snow--he instantly falls in love with her (y'know, as
you do). The guy's a bit overbearing, but the girl is heckin' adorable. Overall,
the theme seems to be about both of them growing--her learning to love for the
first time, and him slowly learning to be a more well-balanced human being that
doesn't have to obsess over his love constantly.)
- Kusumi-kun, Kuuki Yometemasu ka? **CH 33** (Popular girl secretly likes a nobody
guy who acts weird and never talks. It's fun, and doesn't have fan service [which
is always a breath of fresh air], but the plot moves very slowly. Kind of a result
of one of the main characters essentially never speaking.)
- Koharu no Hibi (Hooh boy. Short/cute girl that's obsessively clingy to the guy
she likes. Friggin' makes out with his recorder. Nani the heck. Main premise is
essentially about how obsessive/clingy she is. On the one hand, it's a somewhat
interesting concept, but on the other hand, she made out with his recorder. You
can't really come back from that. Addendum: Curses, the darn thing turned out to be
amusing enough to read. Proceed with caution, nonetheless.)
Maybe Pile:

- Not-so-honest Kouhai (Really light-hearted; senpai and kouhai like each other,
but the girl keeps trying to tell the guy that he likes her. Just your usual sweet
silliness. Trouble is there's only 4 chapters posted back in 2018.)

- The Story of a Girl with Sanpaku Eyes (Feels similar to Hitomi-chan, but format
is unique; starts with almost 1st person perspective, looks like it might change
later. Lots of text though.)
- Kyou no Yuiko-san (Really strict, by-the-books girl, normal guy; both really shy
about their relationship, and keep making excuses to be together. It's alright, but
focuses a lot on "I actually like you but I'm gonna pretend I don't care because
it's embarassing" nonsense. At least it's clear they like each other, but it is
tiresome.)

- 7 Jikanme no Onpu (Girl and guy in school brass band. Neat concept, decent
characters.)
- Tonikaku Cawaii (Genius guy with 0 social skill, and girl who's probably-maybe-
definitely an immortal-moon-alien-spirit-thing; she saves him from a truck, he asks
her out, she asks him to marry her, he says yes, she disappears, and years later
she comes back and they get married on the spot. Big emphasis on them working out
their ridiculous circumstances, as well as being shy about closeness and all. Some
annoying side characters, and a VERY slow plot about her background.)

- Hibi Chouchou
- Chuusotsu Roudousha kara Hajimeru Koukou Seikatsu Roudousha (High school dropout
living with his sister--mom died, dad in prison. Female lead seems to be a rich
girl from opposite circumstances. Could be interesting, but kinda meh for the
moment.)
- Watari-Kun No Xx Ga Houkai Sunzen (Guy and sister live with aunt; used to have a
field/farm with parents. Girl who used to cause trouble comes back and kisses guy.
Drama ensues. Love triangle though--ugh.)

Complete Manga:
- COMPLETE - WISHLIST: My Love Story (need to get my hands on a physical copy with
a proper translation; stupidly sweet, and sometimes often lacking in conflict, but
still a heartwarming classic. Anime intro music is a bop.)
- COMPLETE - WISHLIST: A Silent Voice (same as above. Affected me on a deep and
emotional level. 9.5/10--personal favorite, but still not perfect.)

- COMPLETE: Stand Up! (Yamakawa Aiji) (Holy smokes. It's just darn good. The
characters feel real and natural--very similar to Tsukigakirei. Can be confusing at
times with the translation and flow, but still an instant favorite--gotta buy!
9/10)
- COMPLETE: Yes, My Boss! (translation/speech bubbles is wonky, but it's a cute
little story. 6/10)
- COMPLETE: Hakuji (Pretty sensual, but in an artistic way; about a painter
exploring his love for a girl by painting her. 6/10)
- COMPLETE: Kuchibiru ni Uta wo: 15-nengo no Kimi e (Just a one shot, but involves
two Christian characters, which is rare; has actual Christian themes, even if they
are a bit cliche, and not very explicit. Decent, 7/10)
- COMPLETE: Tsuru Tsuru to Zara Zara no Aida (guy who cares for reptiles, and girl
who likes reptiles. Get together right away; nice and sweet. Ends at a decent time,
though a bit abruptly. 8/10)
- COMPLETE: Watashitachi wa Koi wo Shiranai *We Don't Know a Thing About Love*
(About a couple of airheads that don't realize they're crushin'. Really light
hearted and fun. Does what it does well. 8/10 for its genre.)
- COMPLETE: Itou-kun wa Koi wo Shiranai (Girl and youkai dating. Girl has a unique
personality/background in shoujo--dated abusive partners, and has a sort of "bad
girl" personality as a result, but the story explores her good side coming out
because of her new partner. Really wholesome, and looks at the good in people.
Still, ends a bit too soon--7/10)
- COMPLETE: Tomo-chan wa Onnanoko! (Guy treats girl like "one of the guys," she
secretly wants to date. Really funny, but takes 900+ pages only to end right when
they start dating. 6/10)
- COMPLETE: Chocolat (KUBONOUCHI Eisaku) (Ex-mafia member returns from prison to
discover his boss has opened a cake shop. Starts out hilarious, gets a bit overly
dramatic toward the end. 8/10 start, 6/10 end.)
- COMPLETE: Mousou Telepathy (Girl has telepathy; guy looks emotionless but
constantly has dirty thoughts about her. Starts off with a lot of echi nonsense,
but gets better with time. Really funny, with a decent story to boot. 7.5/10, -0.5
for echi nonsense.)

- COMPLETE: My Righteous Older Brother (girl separated from her brother, and guy
who killed someone in his past; both end up bonding, and find comfort for their
loss together. Need to find out where to get the second volume and beyond; this one
is good!)

- *FAV* COMPLETE: Hajimari no Niina (Really touching story. Girl dies at 15 and is
roborn with her memories; about her remembering and trying to help/be with the
people she knew. Feels real & raw. Has an actually interesting take on
reincarnation--she has her old memories, and still likes the same guy, but
distinguishes between this life and the last.)
- *FAV* COMPLETE: Taishou Otome Otogibanashi (1920's Japan--arranged marriage, guy
can't use his right hand, girl's small. Starts off really sweet, and eases its way
into more intensity. Dives deep into the historical context of everything. Some
"echi" stuff though. Makes a decent 8/10)

::: MANGA MAYBE PILE ARCHIVE :::

- Ballroom E Youkoso (Friggin'. Ballroom. Dancing. Don't know about the pacing
though)
- Hiyokoi (Tall guy, short girl. Art's old, characters are kinda cliche [rude-ish
guy, shy/nervous girl], but might be worth a try.)
- Jijyou wo Shiranai Tenkousei ga Guigui Kuru *The Clueless Transfer Student is
Assertive* (Girl everyone teases and calls the Grim Reaper, and transfered guy who
thinks it makes her super cool. Nice art, but characters keep repeating
themselves/take forever to talk. Just weird pacing.)
- Chou Dokyuu Shoujo 4946 (About a guy and a giant girl who fights aliens. It's a
shounen, so the romance apparently takes a back seat; still, fun idea.)
- Ojojojo (Fancy rich girl and old-timey peasant boy in a modern school. Couple of
weirdos getting along. Very chibi style.)
- Wakabayashi Toshiya's 4-koma Collection (Short stories about a variety of
relationships. Really funny; not for long love stories though.)

- Chihaya-san's Fine That Way (About a hefty girl who wants to diet, and her guy
friend who likes her the way she is. 2x4 panel layout, which I'm not a fan of.)
- Hitorimi Haduki-san to. (31yo girl; teenage sister sets her up with a classmate.
Humor's kinda meh, as is the art. Could get better, but still a hard maybe.)
- Fujiyama-san wa Shishunki (Hm... Short guy and properly tall girl, friends as
kids but acquaintances in high school. Start dating in secret. Trouble is, story
starts with guy seeing girl without her top in secret, and a lot of the plot
revolves around him catching "revealing glimpses" of her. Their relationship is
nice, it's just the author lays heavy on that aspect.)
- How to Make Your Cool Husband Fall in Love (22yo girl, 30yo guy that works for
her father; she's had a crush on him for years, and now that her parents have moved
overseas, they've been made pretend husband and wife (she's real sheltered, so
don't want her in trouble). Really cute story, but now it's exclusive to an app
called "Pocket Comics.")
- A Business Proposal **CH 18** (Manwha. Through a series of farcical
circumstances, a girl ends up dating her boss under an alter ego to save her friend
from a blind date, and even more farcically he's decided to marry her without a
second thought to get his family off his back. It starts out kinda charming and
funny, but he's also kind of a jerk and is very willing to threaten/punish the
girl. Also, art is very meh.)

- Sukitte Ii na yo (Anime; looks like it could be good)

The Nope Pile

- Rent-a-Girlfriend (Definitely "echi"--main guy is trash, and his friends only
ever talk about sex--but darned if I don't love the grandma. She has SO much
character! Might need to try the anime. Will probably read the manga anyways.)
- Hetakoi (Art is good, and characters feel fairly real, but the main shtick is the
guy saw the girl naked. Which is uncensored. And keeps coming up. Goodness
gracious...)
- Honeymoon Salad (Guy's really negative, meets up with middle school ex/starts
meeting with stranger from the subway. Adult story with explicit scenes. Blargh.)
- Game Over (Good art and humor--and really pretty cover--but it's about a 20 yo
and a 14 yo. Yikes.)
- Sore wa Totsuzen, Unmei no Aite ga (People are matched up to create "superior
genetics." Yikes. First chapter is about a brother and sister getting matched. Y I
K E S . That's a hard NOPE.)
- Ashita Dorobou (Guy broke up with his weirdo girlfriend in college and regrets
it; she comes back as an alien clone thing. Starts getting "touchy feely," which
ain't for me. Also the actual non-alien ex girlfriend is kinda full of herself.)
- Hajimete Datteba! (Couple of teens getting in an awkward couple. Echi nonsense--
apparently start doing "those things teenagers do." Blargh.)
- Kuzu No Honkai (Couple where both partners have a crush on someone else, and are
together to fill their loneliness. It's an interesting premise, but apparently it
focuses on the psychology/pain the characters go through. I'm into more
lighthearted stuff.)

- Abakanaide Kurorekishi Elite-san to Moto Idol (Okay... So it's a 30yo

businesswoman who used to be an idol, and a 28yo bussinessman that used to be a fan
of her. Big problem: first page is of the guy straight up sexually harrassing her.
Yikeroni and cheese. The story isn't bad, per se--it covers a mature topic, and
seems to acknowledge how heavy it is--but it also gives a romantic angle to a guy
that behaved unacceptably. Addendum: Also gets explicit. Blargh.)
- Dosanko Gyaru Is Mega Cute (Blegh. About a Tokyo/city guy and Hokkaido/country
girl. Trouble is, it's echi. Blarghalargh. Left off on Ch. 6.)

- Ao no Flag (Two guys and a girl; starts with light romantic themes; apparently it
delves into sexuality and the like, so not my cup of tea.)
- Bokura Ga Ita (Based on recommendation alone. Apparently it gets better, but at
the start the guy is pretty insufferable. Addendum: Yeah, no, sounds like they
don't even get together in the end. Ugh.)
- COMPLETE: Love Roma (Guy confesses to a girl point-blank in the middle of class.
About a very blunt guy and a girl trying to figure him out. Art is old and
different, but not necessarily bad. Addendum: Lots of inappropriate jokes. Meh.)
- Mishiro san to Yamada kun (Sketchy and inappropriate. Meh.)
- Danna Ga Nani O Itte Iru Ka Wakaranai Ken *I Can't Understand What My Husband Is
Saying* (Eh. Art is sketchy, humor is all about anime tropes and vaguely
inappropriate.)

::: STUFF THAT'S GONE QUIET :::

- The Gamercat
- Postcards in Braille (concluded)
- Eagle Ordinary
- Lonely Vincent
- Manly Guys Doing Manly Things

::: THOSE OTHER COMICS :::

- Nothing Special (nearly sickeningly sweet; kinda lacks substance, but a guilty
pleasure nonetheless)
- Twokinds
- Dreamkeepers

::: USED TO READ :::

- Patrik the Vampire

- Peritale
- Sanity Circus
- Hello My Name is Benny (kinda just got annoying after a while)

::: ANIME LIST :::

- Momokuri (Girl obsessed with guy, asks him out and they're both awkward/shy.
Similar concept to Koharu no Kibi, but without the creepiness.)
