Prelim Worship Class.

2nd Semester 2018-2019

1. How would you describe worship and its impact in your life?
 Worship is our expression of love and awe to God who gives us more than what we deserve. It
is any essential expression of service rendered unto God by a soul who loves and extols Him
for who He is. Real worship should not cease and nonstop activity of every believer that its
primary aim is to please God, not to entertain other people or other worshiper. Worship has
taught me that there is a supreme God of us, and He is worthy of my praise. Because of
worship, it allowed me to know more about God and allowed me to discover the mysterious
and marvelous works of His hands.
2. What would be an example of “worshiping the true God in the wrong form”?
 Wrong form of worshipping the true God is acknowledging another God and worshiping false
gods. Sometimes it could be personal wealth, personal abilities or personal possessions. For
me worshipping becomes in wrong form when the true intention of worshipping God is diverted
to worshipping or putting oneself or one thing before God. Wanting to see the personal desires
or abilities or somehow called being a “Show-off”. In worship, no matter how beautiful it is,
how it was perfectly prepared, or how beautiful and well- intentioned it is, It became useless
and unacceptable if it is directed to a false God.
 Another wrong form of worship is doing the personal thing and not keeping what the Lord
commands.
3. How do you think busy activity and emotional sensationalism may get in the way of true worship?
Because of busy activity right preparation of heart and mind for worship is not met thus making the
worship unprepared. Sometimes having lot of activity or busy activities becomes activity-centered
worship only not God-centered, and sometime the use of emotional sensationalism is being done just
for the people to engaged and get attracted and arouse an intense emotional response with what the
worship leader or preacher says, What are some things in your life that may become a distraction and
get in the way of your worship of God?
 The things in your life that may become a distraction and get in the way of worshipping of God,
is my flesh thinking and doing. There are times that instead of worshipping the true God I
come to see myself that I am already in the position where God should be, I want to be the
center of attraction, I want to be praised, I want to people to notice what I do. Sometimes my
thinking directs me to see myself abilities over God’s limitless works.

4. What three words or phrases would you use to describe God and why?
 I describe God as a marvelous God.
He created the heavens and the earth; he is a supreme creator, sovereign God. With his
marvelous ways all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made” (John
1:3). Our God brought to life all things out of nothing. That is how powerful He is, he created all
creatures. Through his marvelous love, yet we were sinner he gave his life for us through his son
Jesus Christ and forgave all our sins.
 God is one Call Away
It is normal to have different problems in life, it is normal that sometimes we look for
someone who will care for us in times of problems. Sometimes we call upon Jesus to be the
answer in our problem we ask for answers we ask for help, we seek him. Matthew 7:7 says “Ask
and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. In my
life I saw Jesus how God answered my prayer. When I lack money so I can go to school I pray
then I was amazed that someone will give me money. When I have problems God will show
solutions to my problems. And whatever you ask in prayer, you will receive, if you have faith.” And
indeed God hears your prayer. He delights when we come to him and ask him to help us. He wants
to give us the things we need, not the things we just want. Sometimes the answers we get to
prayers aren’t what we want or expect or they take longer than we think they should. But, none of
that is the absence of answers. God hears every prayer no matter what method of praying you use:
speaking, singing, or thinking.

 God is a Triune God.

There is but one living and true God, everlasting, without body or parts, of infinite power,
wisdom, and good; the maker and preserver of all things, both visible and invisible. And in unity of
this Godhead there are three persons, of one substance, power, and eternity—the Father, the Son,
and the Holy Ghost.
5. Why is it important for you to believe in the existence of God?
It is important for me to the existence of God became it is He whom I preached every Sunday. His
existence should not be contested because He has revealed Himself to us specifically in His word. He
is a spirit and we can know Him in the deepest spiritual sense. He is one, and there is no competition
between Him and other gods. He is a Trinity, working as one on our behalf. And He is a rewarder of
those who come to Him in faith.
We should believe in his existence because He is the epitome of love, peace, hope, joy,
forgiveness, servanthood and goodness. When we acknowledge his existence we also learn that he
became an example to follow.

6. Idol worship may take different forms, what are some false gods that people can make a higher priority
than the true God?
 False God can be wealth or possession
 It could be someone or a person
 It could a made image of false God or image in the mind.
 It could be personal abilities and talents.

7. Think of a time when God seemed far away in your life. What were the circumstances and how did you
respond?
 I was a product of a broken family. I have 2 sisters older than me. At the age of 3, I got
immune of my parent shouting to each other, hurting each other that seems love has already
gone. They got separated and under the law I was set to be in the custody of my father. We
then had to be in an external family set-up with our grandparents. And it has an impact to us
siblings, we need to care for ourselves we need to prepare our school uniform, wash them and
iron them. We need to prepare foods for ourselves because we have no mother to prepare
foods for us and our grandparents and father were busy with their business. I was used to be
in my room facing my own problem, seeing myself caring for myself and enjoying the company
of no one. I thought that time that the Jesus that my grandparents was not true, because he
allowed us to experience that situation. But I never gave up to my prayers as I grew older. God
moves in mysterious ways because my parents are okay now, they began to care and see
each other. God is really good because He answered all my questions, turned my worries into
victories, he turned my doubts to trust and my questions into answers.

8. In what areas of your life do you feel the weakest and especially in need of God's support?
 The area of my life that I feel the weakest and in need of God's support is my loss of self-
control. I am easily gets frustrated, I easily get mad, and I am easily got angry. I can’t control
my personal desires like eating what is restricted by my doctor, playing computer games
knowing that I have things to finish. But I know God can restore me and will give me self-
control

9. How do you feel when you consider that God sees everything you do and knows everything you think?
What impact does this have in your life?
 I can feel the protection of God. Because he knows everything I do even what I think he can
put my thinking right and orderly. His divine intervention comes in perfect time. He corrects my
thinking and action and prevents me to do self-desires and allowing me to think twice and
think right.
10. What are some ways we can give God glory by our own words and deeds?
 By doing what is right, just and proper in His sight. Saying inspiring words not destructive
words, words that will glorify him.
11. What are some practices you can employ to prepare your heart and mind for worship?
 The practices that I can employ to prepare my heart and mind for worship is meditating to his
words and especially seeking his presence through praying.
12. Think of a time when God called you to repentance over something in your life. What was your
response and how have you grown since then?
 That was on the 28th day of December on the altar call of the MEA WIDE Christmas Institute
held in Cavite State University. I was in deep repentance kneeling before God with my tears
falling asking for forgiveness for what I have done; yelling back to my parents when they are
scolding me, putting my schooling allowance in playing computer, doing things out of my
curiosity as a teenager like being with friends till late night. But after that moment of
repentance, was a time of acceptance. Accepting that God is calling me to be his servant in
His vineyard and since then I decided to become a pastor and lived my life according to his
will.
13. What has the Lord taught you recently through negative circumstances or personal sacrifices? How
can you use this as a catalyst for worship?
 The Lord taught me to trust his ways and obey where he leads me. With that it helped me to
see and use those experiences to fully trust Him and Obey him and with that my worship
become meaningful knowing that there is my Lord doing things for my God, and directing me
to a path of walking in faith to the place near his cross.
14. How has your attitude and understanding of worship changed since reading this book(Worship Maze)?
How has your life been impacted?
Reading this book taught me about the real meaning of worship, its importance and the how’s in doing
it. This book taught me of how should we worship God. That genuine worship is the response to divine
truth and we must make it our business to be worshipers in spirit and in truth. And God primary activity
has always been seeking the true worshipper. And worshipping should only focus to the real God
omnipotent, omnipresent and omniscience; the triune God, Father, Spirit, Son.
