GREETINGS FROM PHARMEXCIL
Sub: Opportunities available to exporters under MAI scheme of
Govt., of India.
The Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Govt., of India has been assisting
the pharmaceutical exporters through several schemes under Market
Development Assistance [MDA]/ Market Access Initiative [MAI]
programmes. In this regard Pharmexcil has organized two seminars in
the month of September 2004 at Mumbai and Hyderabad. A Senior Official
from the Ministry of Commerce made a detailed presentation of the
schemes.
While many of the above promotional activities are linked to the
programmes organized by the Export Promotion Council, we would like to
inform two important items where pharmaceutical exporters may benefit
independently. The same are given below:
A. Reimbursement of registration charges for product registrations abroad.
Under this scheme assistance is available on reimbursement basis for
registration charges paid by an exporter of pharmaceuticals (including
biotechnology products). The exporter is required to send the request
through the Council. Preference shall be given to the small and medium
entrepreneurs. 50% of the registration charge subject to a ceiling of Rs.
5.00 lakh for each registration shall be reimbursed. An exporter can apply
five registrations in a year and the total ceiling for each exporter is Rs.
25.00 lakh p.a. The proforma for application is attached as ANNEXURE –
A.
B.Research & Development
Under this scheme selected exporters would be assisted in modernizing
and upgrading the identified products as per the needs of the specific
markets. The Council would act as co-ordinator. 25% of the total
approved cost subject to a ceiling of 50.00 lakh for each product would be
funded. Proforma for application is enclosed as ANNEXURE – II.
You may kindly make note the above two opportunities which are relevant
to pharmaceutical exporters in particular. All companies irrespective of size
/ export turnover are eligible. Interested members may please submit
applications with relevant documents to Pharmexcil immediately. You may
also contact us at our Head Office /Regional Office for more information on
this subject.
