Nouns

What is a Noun?
A noun is a word that identifies a person, animal, place, thing, or idea.

Grammar accidents in number: We can find nouns with singular and plural
forms.

Note: We form the plural by adding “-s”
For instance

RULES OF PLURAL FORMATION.

NOUNS ENDING IN. –S, -CH, -ZZ, -SS, -SH, -O, -X ADD –ES TO FORM THE PLURAL:

NOUNS ENDING IN CONSONANT + Y: CHANGE Y TO I THEN ADD –ES

EXCEPTIONS: NOUNS ENDING IN A VOWEL + Y, ONLY ADD –S: PULLEY-PULLEYS

DEMONSTRATIVES
Demonstratives show where an object, event, or person is in relation to the speaker. They can
refer to a physical or a psychological closeness or distance.
