ABSTRACT

Adequate site investigation is a key for the prevention of problems during design ,
construction and during the life of structure. Awareness about the importance of a thorough
geotechnical site investigation is critical and better standards must have to be developed.
Unexpected problems like construction delays, design changes to hazardous condition and
possible loss of life may occur due to unexpected ground condition if not properly investigated.
These may lead to significant costs and liabilities. This paper deals with provision of foundation
of different structures in Cochin area based on subsoil investigation. Latest softwares are utilized
for preparation of soft soil investigation reports and design which helped the quality and speed.
