ENTERING THE RANGE
Usually leader has stablished his formation in right echelon in order to a first overfly of
the range and check with range director, in heading 149°, following main arrow between
the two control towers located in every end of 20 mm gun fault line and performing a left
break in order to get spacing of the flight members, at 1000 ft AGL. Occasionally you can
enter following a low-level profile without break (direct attack) so you must ask for range
director clearance 5 minutes before overflight.
In general, unless different instructions provided by range director, bombing events are
made before strafing, rockets before bombing, so strafe is always the last event.
ROCKETS EMPLOYMENT
There is one specific target for rockets, usually entering from the north from
heading 149°.
BOMBS
There are several bomb areas:
PRACTISE BOMBS: Main and secondary targets
REAL BOMBS: Main and secondary targets and live ordnance zones LO1, LO2, LO3
and LO4.
STRAFE
There are 2 areas for strafe. Main and secondary. Usually secondary only in special
occasions. You can also strafe the tanks and planes located in the simulated airstrip.
Main strafe has 3 different targets, left, center and right. Usually leader goes to left, nº 2
to center and so on. Secondary strafe has 2 different targets, left and right.
The strafe main area has 2 fault lines first one for 20 mm gun (F16/F18/AV8B), and the
second one for 30 mm gun (A10C). There are two control towers, one in every end of 20
mm fault line.

THE PATTERN
239º
149º
The flight usually arrives from the beginning of the arrow. After overflight the range (1000
ft AGL or less), leader call for a left break to get spacing. Do not climb over 6000 ft unless
cleared by range director, indeed can be other formations holding over the range at 7000
ft.
LEAVING THE RANGE
To leave the range, under leader instructions, perform rendezvous and proceed to the VFR
entry points in TONOPAH (TPH).
