PATINTERO
Patintero is a Filipino game also known as tubigan. The object of the game is to block
(harang) the other team’s players from passing.
PLAYERS: 4 players per team; 2 opposing teams
PLAY AREA: The ground is marked off in a 5- or 6-meter rectangle divided into 4 equal
parts.
Tournament Playcourt: 7.5-meter-long by 5-meter-wide quadrant divided into 6 equal
quadrants.
GAME MECHANICS:
1. The game is started with toss of a coin. Whoever wins becomes the passer.
A toss will be made to determine which team will decide who will play
Offense and Defense.
The winner of the game is the team with the greatest number of scores,
that is, the
most number of Passer that can make a Full Run.
2. Once the limit elapses, the line guards assume the positions of the passer, and
vice-versa.
The game will start by positioning the Taggers on the Play court, setting
the Defense first.
The Passers will then position themselves at the starting area, playing
designed Offense for a particular Defense.
3. Passers are supposed to cross the lines from the starting point and back.
In a round, the Passers must execute their offense strategy to try to make
a score.
If a Passer is Moved Out or Tagged Out, the remaining Passers can still
continue to try to make a score until the round ends.
4. Four-line guards are positioned on the vertical line and one on the horizontal line
of the court. Their feet should always be on the line.
Taggers must stay on the lane they are assigned to.
Tagger who programmatically or accidentally went off its assigned lane
will be penalized.
5. Line guards tag the passer with powdered hands.
The passers will be out when the taggers tag them with their powdered
hands.
If a Passer is Moved Out or Tagged Out, the remaining Passers can still
continue to try to make a score until the round ends.
