It is the most important software that runs on a computer since it manages the computer's memory and
processes, as well as all of its software and hardware. [2]
b) In what kind of computer memory would the operating system be in the following circumstances?
i. When the computer is turned off: ROM.
ii. When someone is running the computer: RAM and ROM. [2]
c) One of the tasks of an operating system is to control peripheral devices:
i. State one example of an input peripheral device: Keyboard [1]

d) Explain what the operating system has to do in the following circumstance – a user double clicks on a
