Stagging Calculation

The document provides load calculations and formwork design details for the construction of a 55m span prestressed concrete box girder bridge. It calculates the total dead load on the formwork as 13369kn and the load per vertical column as 56.17kn. It then shows calculations to check the adequacy of a proposed 450x450mm steel column with 4 ISA 65x65x6mm angles to support this load, and determines the base thickness of 200mm is sufficient to support each column.

PROJECT TITLE:
Construction of H.L. Bridge on Yamuna River Connecting Bilaspur Khojkipur in Distt.
Panipat at Ch. 0.00 to 15.213 in the state of Haryana & U.P .

Load Calculation for 55 m span PSC Box Girder

Formwork Design:

Material used for Shuttering.

1. Vertical column of 4.0 mtr Height (450*450mm ) using angle 65x65x6 mm

Lacing with 16 mm dia steel rod.
2. Steel Runner of ISMB150/200 mm.
3. Steel Plates 1250mm x 1000mm x3.15 mm for shuttering .

Dead Load:

a) Self-weight of Shuttering plates.

b) Self-weight of Steel runners (ISMB).

c) Load of PSC Box Girder .

Total load of concrete = App 540.00 Cum. (i.e 12744 kn)

ISMB150x75 runner (Longitudnal ) total load = 5.62 MT = 55.08 kN

ISMB200x100 runner (Transverse ) total load = 6.58 MT = 64.5 kN

ISMB150x100 runner (Transverse Cantilever Both Side ) total load =

3.06 MT = 30 kN

Shuttering Plates Weight = 48.0 MT = 470.4 kN

Live Load = 5 kN

Total load = 12744 + 55.08 + 64.5 + 30+470.4+5 = 13369.0kn

Total no of VT = 238 @ 2000mm x 1500 spacing

Load on one VT Column= 13369/238 =56.17 Kn

CALCULATION:

Provide 4 ISA 65x65x6 mm angle section

The relevant properties are

A=744 mm2

Cxx = Cyy = 18.1 mm

rxx = ryy = 18.1 mm

Ixx = Iyy = 29.1x104 mm

Area provided = 4x744 = 2976 mm2

Spacing of angles for allowable compressive stress of 120 mpa and Fy = 250 mpa

Allowable l/r = 64

l = 0.65 x 4 x 103 = 2600 mm

r = 2600/64 = 40.63 mm

Moment of inertia of section required, I = Ar2 = 2976 x 40.632 = 491.27 x 104 mm2

Moment of inertia of section required = Moment of inertia of section provided

491.27 x 104 mm2 = 4 x 29.1 x 104 + 2976 Ӯ2

Ӯ = 35.49 mm

Spacing of angles, S = 2 x (35.49+18.1) = 107.18 mm

Load carrying capacity = 120 x 2976 = 357 KN > 56.17 KN,

Hence Safe

Conclusion:

Steel Column of Avg. 4.0m Height, size (450x450mm) at spacing

1500mm x2000 are safe for the load of 13369 kn.

BASE CALCULATION:

GIVEN SBC -100 Kn/Sqm

LOAD ON COLUMN – 56.17 kN

Approx. area of base required – 56.17/100 =

0.56mm

Provided area (1.0x1.0) = 1.0 mm2

Thickness of slab base

t = √3w/σbs (a2-b2/4)

Where,

t = thickness of base

σbs = permissible bending stress in the base (185MPa)

t = √3x56.17/185 (2252-2252/4)

= 185.96 mm (required)

Provided =200 mm thk hence ok
