Applications of Digital Communication PDF

1) Digital communication has applications in military communications, image processing, and internet of things. 2) Military communication uses different frequencies to transmit secure signals to radios and satellites, enabling intense and complicated communication that advances remote technology. 3) In image processing, converting continuous data to discrete values through coding and quantization allows pattern recognition, robotic vision, and image enhancement through vector analysis of simple signals.

Applications
• It is used in military application for secure communication and missile
guidance.
• It is used in image processing for pattern recognition, robotic vision
and image enhancement.
• Internet of things
Military Communications
They use different frequencies to send signals to other radios and to
satellites.
As a result, military communication is intense and complicated, and
often motivates the development of advanced technology for remote
systems such as satellites and aircraft, both manned and unmanned, as
well as computers.
Pattern recognition, robotic vision and image
enhancement
As images and signals are converted into simple signals using coding
and quantization, being able to convert continuous data to discrete
values allow these values to be converted into vectors and be used for
advanced analysis like pattern recognition, robotic vision and image
enhancement.
Internet of Things
• The advancement of the communication systems in digital
communication has allowed communication systems to be used in
almost everything.
Size of computer systems with time
• Thanks to versatile design of
microelectronic systems, computer
and a multitude of communication
devices have been miniaturized
vastly in the last 20 years
History of IOT
Telemetry: • The first system to transmit power plant
the process of recording and
data through telephone lines (telemetry)
was rolled out in Chicago in 1912
transmitting the readings of an
instrument. • In 1930, weather was monitored using
balloons and a device called radiosonde
that was used to transmit data through
telemetry
• In 1957 Sputnik used aerospace
telemetry to that created the basis of
our global satellite communications
today

History of IoT
Why IOT now?
• Available connectivity
• Widespread adoption of IP
• Miniaturization
• Advances in data analytics
• Rise of cloud computing
