Motivation
Loblaw mainly focus on the Maslow’s hierarchy of needs while motivating their employees to
not only do their job effectively and efficiently, but they also make sure the employees enjoy

Intrinsic motivations use internal rewards as they will have a feeling of gratification and
fulfilment in achieving the task. Loblaw makes sure its employees are given jobs that are not
easy, instead they give them challenging ones. The employees are pushed to their maximum
potential so that they could improve and have better performance. The employees will feel
respected because they are believed that they have the potential to achieve the challenging task
and thus strive for good performance results.
Loblaw review all their products that are under promotions or deals, products with demands help
it to make more money. Loblaw make sure their employees know how to improve and makes
sure the employees are on the same page. The employees will feel respected and will not feel left
behind.
Extrinsic motivation uses external rewards such as money, gifts and recognition to motivate the
employees. Loblaw can attract and gain loyalty from their employees through these types of
rewards.
For extrinsic motivations, Loblaw worker can receive a product discounts card/ voucher/ coupon.
They do this because they assert their team efforts. Loblaw company also motivates the worker
by taking care of their family members by giving health/medical coverage benefits.
Loblaw company is a team-oriented company, with many employees working together over
designated shifts. When employees can feed off of each other, that creates more motivation for
everyone involved. With this support, it is easy for motivation to be spread around.
