Look at some of the phrasal verbs that you have already studied in the
previous lessons. Write down their definition.
Look after = take care of
Look for = search
Look forward to + noun phrase = can’t wait
Get back (transitive) = receive something you had before (emails, letters)
Get back (intransitive) = return
Get out of = gain, obtain something good
Get together = meet (usually for social reasons)
Get up = get out of bed

EXERCISE 3
Choose the correct verb to complete the text about a shopping trip.
My wife and I had to get / go up early at 7 a.m. on Saturday
morning so that we could go / set off early for the town
centre. My father-in-law stayed at home and looked / cared
after our baby child - he hates shopping! When we got to
town, we looked / got around a big department store. I tried
/ took on a pair of shoes, but quickly put / took them off
again – they were far too small! Anyway, they didn’t go /
get with anything I was wearing. After a bit more shopping,
we went home. I was pleased to take / get back but my wife

Gorillas
Gorillas are shy creatures and seldom violent. In
