Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CS IR) is an autonomous body


under Ministry of Science and Technology, Go vernment of India. It is one of
the largest and most diversified scientific organizations having a network of
nearl y 40 state-of-the-art Laboratories with well experienced scientific staff
and a large number of research scholars.

CSIR Fourth Paradigm Insti tute (CS IR-4P I) is a unique, multi -location
Institute dedicated to BIG DATA science. Our vision is pursuit of “High End
Computational Science empowering Data Intensive Scientific Discovery” in
trans-disciplinary areas through large scale scientific computi ng. Our
facilities include world -class supercomputing environment; attractive
academic programs; strong network of CSIR Labs with domain expertise .

CSIR-4PI, for its ongoing Projects in Bangalore - “Modelling and


Forecasting of High Impact Weather Events in the Beas basin and Designing
a proto-type Advance Warning system for Mitigating their Adverse Impacts”
under the National Mission on Himalayan Studies (NMHS) and “Development
of a modelling platform for Hydro -Meteorological Disaster early warning
system for metro cities in India (HDWS)” by CS IR, will be engaging well
qualified temporary Project staff as under –

I. Research Associate :
Remuneration : Rs.42,000/- per month + House Rent Allowance (HRA)
Age Limit : 40 years, relaxable for SC/ST/OBC & Women Candidates as
per GoI / CSIR orders.

POST CODE: RA/CEMP/01: (1 Post)

Essential Qualification: Ph.D in Meteorology/Atmospheric Science.

Desirable requirements: Work/research experience in numerical weather prediction


models like GCM, WRF etc. Familiar with scientific visualization and analysis
software such as GrADS, Ferret, NCL and good programming skill in Linux, Fortran
and Python.

Job Requirements: The selected candidate is expected to work with team involved in
Project under National Mission on Himalayan Studies.

II. Senior Project Associate :


Remuneration : Rs.42,000/- per month + House Rent Allowance (HRA)
Age Limit : 40 years, relaxable for SC/ST/OBC & Women Candidates as
per GoI / CSIR orders.
POST CODE: SPA/CEMP/01: (1 Post)

Essential Qualification: Ph.D in Atmospheric Science or M.Sc/M.Tech in


Atmospheric Science/Meteorology with 4 years of research experience post
M.Sc/M.Tech in the field of Atmospheric Sciences.

Desirable requirements: Work knowledge in weather prediction models like GCM,


WRF etc. Familiar with scientific visualization and analysis software such as GrADS,
GMT, NCL and good programming skill in Linux, Fortran, C/C++, R, etc.

Job Requirements: The selected candidate is expected to work with team involved in
research related to urban extreme rainfall events and numerical simulations.

III. Project Associate (Level - II):


Remuneration : Rs.28,000/- per month + House Rent Allowance (HRA)
Age Limit : 35 years, relaxable for SC/ST/OBC & Women Candidates as
per GoI / CSIR orders.
POST CODE: PA/CEMP/01: (2 Posts)

Essential Qualification: First Class (60%) in M.Sc. (Atmospheric Science/


Meteorology /Physics) with 2 year experience post M.Sc Or M.Tech Computer
Science from a Recognised Institution / University.

Desirable requirements: Work/research experience in numerical weather prediction


models like GCM, WRF etc. Familiar with scientific visualization and analysis
software such as GrADS, Ferret, NCL and good programming skill in Linux, Fortran
and Python.

Job Requirements: The selected candidate is expected to work with team involved in
research related to urban extreme rainfall events and numerical simulations.

IV. Project Assistant :


Remuneration : Rs.24,000/- per month (fixed).
Age Limit : 35 years, relaxable for SC/ST/OBC & Women Candidates as
per GoI / CSIR orders.
POST CODE: PA/CEMP/02: (1 Post)

Essential Qualification: First Class (60%) in M.Sc. (Oceanography/Meteorology/


Atmospheric Science/Environmental Science) or B.E/B.Tech in Computer Science.

Desirable requirements: Work/research experience in numerical weather prediction


models like GCM, WRF etc. Familiar with scientific visualization and analysis
software such as GrADS, Ferret, NCL and good programming skill in Linux, Fortran
and Python.

Job Requirements: The selected candidate is expected to work with team involved in
Project under National Mission on Himalayan Studies.

IMPORTANT INSTRUCIONS –
1) The selection will be based on screening of the applications followed by personal
interview by Online mode.
2) Candidates will be shortlisted based on their applications by a screening committee. If
large number of applications are received, then the committee may adopt additional
criteria to shortlist the candidates.
3) Short listed candidates will be called for an Online Personal Interview. The details of the
interview will be intimated by email only.
4) Candidates must email their dul y completed applications in pdf format to

a) A dul y filled application form (Application forms can be

b) One passport size photo affixed on the application
c) Photo ID proof (Govt issued photo id car d)
d) All certificates in support of your date of birth (SS LC/Class -10
Certificate), qualifications (Convocation/PDC and all semester
marks sheet), experience etc.
e) SC/ST/OBC/EWS certificate in GoI format.
5) Candidates applying for more than one position should submit separate application for
each position
6) Students awaiting Final year results will NOT be considered.

7) The institute reserves the right to increase or decrease the number of posts to be recruited.
8) The institute reserves the right to reject any or all the applications without assigning any
reasons.
9) Mere fulfilment of minimum qualification and experience for the post does not entitle the
candidate to be called for interview.
10) Canvassing in any form shall be grounds for disqualification.
GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS:
(1) Onl y Indian National s are eligible to apply for the above positions.
(2) The above positions are purel y Temporary and on Contract basis for the
duration of th e Projects onl y. The contract may be terminated at any time
by giving one month’s notice by either side. The applicants will have no
claim implicit or explicit for consideration against any CS IR post .
(3) The engagement of Project staff will be initially for a period of one year, which may be
extended or curtailed depending on the performance of the candidate.
(4) Age limit will be reckoned as on 23 r d Mar 2021. Age limit is relaxable
for SC/ST/OBC and Women candidates as per Government of India /
CSIR orders.
(5) As regards reservation, if all things are equal, SC/ST/OBC /EWS
candidates may be given preference over General candidates so as to
ensure their representation .
(6) Currently employed candidates will have to furnish no objection certificate from their
employer.
(7) Engagement of Project staff shall be as per CS IR Guidelines /Guidelines
of the funding agency.
