Speaking 1 Without looking at the rest of the page, how many types of hotel room
can you think of?

Vocabulary 2 Do you know words for the following types of room? Match this
definitions with the words underneath.

(a) A room occupied by one person.

Work in pairs to practice escorting the guests to the room. Set the classroom as

Reading 7 Study the following information. Then retell the information to the class.

Supplies
Guest room supplies are supposed to stay in the room or be used in the room, but they are often
taken as souvenirs, so the chambermaid must carry replacements. Supplies are divided into two
types; room supplies and giveaway supplies (giveaways). Room supplies may not be taken home
by the guest but giveaways may be taken home by the guest. A deluxe hotel may have the
following supplies and giveaways.

a. Bathroom Supplies: towels (bath-sheet and bath towels); hand towels, wash-clothes,
bath mat, bathrobe; scales, hairdryer (maybe in bedroom); glasses and ice bucket on
tray; magnifying mirror.

b. Bathroom Giveaways: soap (hand soap, deodorant soap), bath powder, bath gel, bath
foam (bubble bath), shampoo, hair conditioner, skin moisturizer, cologne, comb,
hairnet/shower cap, mouthwash, toothbrush, tooth paste, suntan lotion; shoe polish
applicator, shoe shine (cloth), razor, blades.

c. Bedroom Supplies: theft-proof hangers, Bible, clock, table tents, telephone book, room
service menu, hotel service directory, “Do not disturb” sign, plastic tray with ice bucket
and glasses, coffeemaker, and cups, slippers.

d. Bedroom Giveaways: matches, stationery, note pad & ballpoint/pen, sewing kit, plastic
bag, laundry bag, laundry list, dry-cleaning list.
