I. OBJECTIVES
A. Content Standards Demonstrate understanding of time standard, measures of length, mass and
capacity and area using square tile units.
B. Performance Standards Apply knowledge of time, standard measures of length, weight and capacity,
and area using square-tile units in mathematical problems and real life
situations.
C. Learning Tell and write time in minutes including a.m. and p.m. using analog clock.

IV. PROCEDURES
A. Reviewing previous Let the pupils do the skip counting from 5 to 60. Then give the series below
lesson or presenting the and let them write the missing number in the box.
new lesson
5, 10, 15, 25, 35, 45, 50, 60
B. Establishing a purpose 1. Ask this riddle.
of the lesson It has face but no eyes.
It has hands that moves on and on
What is it?
2. Show the real analog clocks of different shapes.
Do you have this at home?
What are these?
What do these tell us?
Why do we have an analog clock at home?
3. Show an improvised analog clock with movable hands.
Let the pupils read the numbers they see in the
clock.
Allow them to be familiar with the numbers 1-
12 and how they are positioned in the clock.
Ask the pupils to describe the parts of the clock.
Be sure that the pupils will mention the different
lengths of the hands.
Set the hands in
7:00a.m., we hold flag raising ceremonies
8:00p.m. we go to bed to sleep
C. Presenting 1. The teacher will present a huge analog clock and different real analog
examples/instances of clocks in various shapes. Ask pupils to draw an analog clock on a bond
the new lesson paper. The hands may point to any number they want.
2. The pictures drawn can be used in teaching how to tell/read the time
including a.m. and p.m.
D. Discussing new The following steps can facilitate teaching how to tell and write time:
concepts and practicing 1. The number pointed by the short hand tells the
new skills #1 hour.
2. Each number on the clock face stands for five
minutes which is pointed by the long hand.
3. To read the time where the short hand is on 8
and the long hand is on 5, count by 5’s from 12,
05, 10, 15, 20, 25. It is 25 minutes after 8
o’clock. Then the time is written 8:25. (The
teacher will write the time on the board).
4. Emphasize that A.M. or a.m. stands for morning
and P.M. or p.m. stands for afternoon.
5. A.M. is from 12 midnight to 12 noon and P.M.
is from 12 noon to 12 midnight.
6. Using the pictures they have drawn, the pupils
will identify the time and write the answer on
the board.
E. Discussing new This time, the teacher will move the hands of the huge analog clock. The
concepts and practicing pupils will tell and write the time.
new skills #2 a. 10:15 d. 12:00
b. 7:20 e. 4:10
c. 9:30
F. Developing Mastery The pupils will be divided into small groups. Each group will make their
activity given by the teacher.
1. Group 1- They will write the time of an analog clock and choose a.m.,
or p.m. which depends on the figures given
2. Group 2- They will draw the hands on each clock to match the time
given.
3. Group 3- They will check the correct time shown on the clock.
4. Group 4- They will write the time below each clock.
Reporting of the output will be delivered after.
G. Finding practical Basahin ang comic strip at sagutin ang tanong.
applications of concept
and skills in daily
living
Mga tanong:
1. Anong oras dapat mamili si Karen?
2. Anong oras sila kumain ng almusal?
3. Anong oras siya gagawa ng gawaing bahay?
4. Tumutulong ka ba sa mga gawaing bahay?
5. Ano ang nararamdaman mo kapag inuutusan ka ng
iyong mga magulang? Bakit?
6. Dapat bang sundin ang utos ng mga magulang? Bakit?
H. Making generalizations The pupils will complete the statement:
and abstractions about
the lesson In reading/writing the time, say/write first the number _____(hour) followed
by the number _____(minutes) . Use _____(colon) to separate the hour part
and the minute part of the time.
I. Evaluating Learning Write the time shown in each clock on your notebook. (The teacher will post
on the board the drawn analog clocks.)
1. 3:25 4. 12:45
2. 5:50 5. 6:15
3. 7:55
