Computer-generated MMPI-3 Results for Mr. J
From the MMPI-3 validity scales scores, there are concerns about existing impacts
from the unscaled responses on this protocol’s validity. Due to this, substantive scales’ scores
showcase interpersonal, behavioral, and emotional dysfunctions. Mr. J’s response to the
unscorable items was consistent, therefore validating the result’s relevance. External
behavioral issues are attributed to insufficient engagement and energy. Internal emotional
issues include passive inefficacy, self-doubt, hopelessness, helplessness, negative emotions,
demoralization, suicidal ideation, worry, and stress. Lastly, interpersonal problems include
social anxiety and self-esteem issues.

Dr. R. N. referred Ms. S. due to existing concerns on attentional functioning. From
my interview session with Ms. S., I processed that her working memory and attention spans
were average. She also performed weakly in calculations and accuracy and speed tests. These
findings are consistent with a mathematics disorder diagnosis that has most likely been
present for a long time. Besides, Ms. S.’s speech was adequately articulated and fluent. There
was no sign of expressive language or auditory communication impairment. Her capacity to
identify spatial and visual relationships in terms of object imaginations was normal.
Interestingly, her information retaining ability of learned information was intact.
However, the results indicated mild functional memory issues. This result could be attributed
to attentional problems in learning new information. Therefore, incorporating behavior-based
approaches to improve her attention skills could prove beneficial in her daily life activities.
Ms. S. MMPI-3’S responses indicated problematic psychological issues like agitation,
depression, or tension over issues present in her surroundings. It also indicated possibilities of
feelings of alienation and tense interpersonal relationships. Furthermore, she is self-
conscious, pessimistic, blame others, and is disappointed about her situation. However, she
sought psychological therapy but has to be committed to it even with her stress levels. Her
depression symptoms did not attribute to a depressive disorder. The positive aspect is Ms.
S.’s results show no signs of suicide ideation.
Content Evaluation
Professional and ethical standards in the psychology profession guide the
interpretation of a client’s assessment and testing data. Professional standards require a
psychologist to use a whole-person assessment approach, purposeful use of tools, and reliable
and unbiased assessment procedures and instruments. Additionally, they are required to use
validated instruments and procedures that are purpose-oriented. MMPI-3 tests are empirically
validated to assess personality and mental health issues. Our two clients, Mr. J. and Ms. S.,
were diagnosed with personality and attentional disorders simultaneously. Therefore, the
MMPI-3 test is a whole-person, purposeful, validated, unbiased, and reliable assessment
approach for the two patients.
Ethical principles that govern psychological assessment sessions include integrity,
goodwill, and respect for clients’ dignity and rights. Psychologists aim to promote
truthfulness, honesty, and accuracy when assessing their clients. Morally, a psychologist
includes communicating and explaining the results, including the diagnosis and prognosis, to
the patient, recommending possible strategies that can be used to improve the patient’s
results, and if necessary, administering medication.
Additional tests
The two additional tests that can assess emotional and personality functioning include
the Assessment of Core CBT Scales and Cognitive Therapy Rating Scales. The cognitive
therapy scale is reliable in testing personality and attention disorders. It ensures internal
consistencies, interrater reliability, and discriminant scale validity. Additionally, it is highly
homogenous hence ensuring undifferentiated and unbiased assessment. Assessment of core
CBT Scales test has good usability, content validity, and face validity. Therefore, the
additional instruments are validated for diagnosis and prognosis.
