Code of Conduct
for the MOOCs (Massive Open Online Courses)
provided on collaborateandlearn.org
All participants of the courses provided on collaborateandlearn.org are required to
agree with the following code of conduct. Collaborateandlearn.org is dedicated to
providing a welcoming and positive experience for everyone who enrolled and
participated in the provided MOOC, the online course. Online course participants
come from all over the world and bring with them a wide variety of professional,
personal and social backgrounds; whatever these may be, we treat everyone with
dignity and respect.
The online course environment is information-rich and intended to knowledge sharing,
generate much discussion and debate. Ideas are discussed from the standpoint of
mutual respect and reasoned argument.
The online course participants work together to promote a respectful and safe
community. In the event that someone’s conduct is causing offence or distress, the
Anti-Harassment Policy, details below, will be applied to address the problem.
Anti-Harassment Policy
Collaborateandlearn.org is dedicated to providing a harassment-free online course
experience for everyone. If you have been harassed, please consult this protocol for
conflict resolution which makes clear how the course providers can help.
Collaborateandlearn.org is committed to helpful and respectful communication as
well as creating a positive environment. Examples of behaviour that contributes to
creating a positive environment include:
● Using welcoming and inclusive language
● Being respectful of differing viewpoints and experiences
● Gracefully accepting constructive criticism
● Focusing on what is best for the community
● Showing empathy towards other community members
Collaborateandlearn.org established the following policy to make it clear that
harassment in any form is not tolerated. Sexual or discriminatory language and
imagery are not appropriate for any forum discussion, comment, feedback,
questions, including sending messages to an individual among the course
participants, facilitators or any other through any communication channel including
e.g. internal social media used during the online course. Harassment includes:
● offensive language related to sex, gender, ethnicity, nationality, socioeconomic
status, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, age, race,
religion;
● sexual or discriminatory images in communication spaces;
● deliberate intimidation;
● stalking;
● unwelcome sexual attention.
Participants asked to stop any harassing behaviour are expected to comply
immediately. If a participant engages in harassing behaviour, the course provider
may take any action they deem appropriate, including warning the offender,
expulsion from the online course. Participants are expected to adapt positive
behaviours as listed above and follow the anti-harassment policy.
We expect participants of the course past and present to be respectful to each
other, and we will deal with any incidents that arise, including on social media.
