Android Mobile setup

Firstly, backup your device with Google drive or another app to avoid the loss of personal data. Also
note in the event your phone is reported lost or Stolen to Shearwater IT, the device will be wiped
remotely erasing only Shearwater data.

Open the Google app store and search for Intune Company portal.

Install this on to your device & open it.


Login in with your 365 credentials and your will see the next screen below.

Click begin and you will see the below screen which confirms the devices privacy. This shows what
Shearwater Can & Cannot access on your phone. Please click continue.
Click begin to start the process of creating a work profile on your device as below.

Once finished click continue as below.


Please note Android devices split the phone into 2 parts personal and work. You can see once the
process has started by swiping up while in the phone’s menu. Personal is your space on the phone
and Work is the area where Shearwater stores secure apps for access to Shearwater online services.
If your handset is missing any of the required setting you will see a screen like below, this will show
you what you need to do. If you do not receive this message, then please continue to page 10.
Pin setting, you will need a PIN code (at least 6 numbers)

Click How to Resolve this and it will take you to the PIN setup page as below. Type in you at least 6-
digit passcode.

Now select Password and set a password that is at least 6 characters long. Please remember this
password as it is used to unlock your phone from its encrypted state on start-up. Failure to type the
password in correct 10 times will result in a full wipe of all data on the device.

To encrypt you S9 mobile, come out of the Company portal app and go to your Personal Profile on
the phone (swipe up and select it) Open settings as below.
Do a search for search for ‘Secure Startup’ and open it.
In secure startup select require Pin/password when device powers on option. This will encrypt your
device.

Once completed please restart your device and enter you Pin/Password on startup.

Once your phone is back on open the Company Portal app in the work Profile part of your phone
(swipe up). Select your device once the app open and you should see the main page like below.
The device should say it complies and now you have access to your Shearwater apps.

Last part is to open the Microsoft Defender (This is the company Antivirus program) so it can activate
it’s license. Open the below App.
