The CW checks the following learning outcomes:

2. Show ability of implementation of econometric methods into real life examples;
3. Show ability of interpreting econometric results and derive policy recommendations;
Task
During this semester student should demonstrate he/she can conduct more advanced
econometric analysis and derive policy recommendations from the results of the study. Select
any topic related to the socio-economic problem of one of any Central Asian Countries
(economic growth, unemployment, poverty, trade, divorce, housing, farming, etc.) Organize your
analysis according to following steps:
1. Choose one of the socio-economic problems and provide comprehensive motivation for
research work. This part of the study should justify the actuality of the topic and show
the benefits of the results in policy making process. (1-2 pages) (15 marks)
2. Provide analyses of theoretical determinants of the problem. Present literature review
of previous studies and select proper methodology for their analysis. (2-3 pages)
(15 marks)
3. Conduct filed surveys or collect primary/secondary data for your empirical estimation
processes. Analyze your data and provide statistical analysis. Describe new information
you obtain from your preliminary statistical analysis. (2-3 pages) (20 marks)
4. After collection of relevant data, conduct empirical estimation(s) and interpret their results.
Compare results with the results of previous studies. Are they consistent? If not, why they
are not consistent? (1-2 pages) (25 marks)
5. Using results of empirical estimation process, provide policy recommendations to solve
analyzed problems.(1-2 pages) (15 marks)
5 marks are given for the structure of paper
5 marks are given for proper acknowledgement and documentation of your data
Total allocation of marks of written assignment is 100 marks.
This task has two components: a) written components and b) presentation. Student
can get maximum 100 marks from their presentations.
Written assignment component counts for 70 percent and presentation counts for 30
percent of the task.
Students are required to present and defend their work in front of the module team
(face-to-face). Presentations should not exceed 10 minutes time limit.
Guidelines
This assignment is an individual coursework. You need to find relevant data and reading
materials (academic papers).
Format
1. Word-processed Times New Roman/ Arial 12, 1.5 spaced and printed single-sided on
A4 paper.
2. The cover sheet should state your ID number, module title and the name of module
leader.
3. Maximum number of words should not exceed 3000 words.
4. Include a contents page giving the headings and page numbers of each section.
5. Pages should be numbered.
6. Word-count must be included on the cover page (do not include attachments,
appendices and bibliography in the word-count).
7. Please do not submit any loose pages.
8. Use Harvard method of referencing.
Submission
You must submit the electronic version of your work only in a text format. Works
submitted in the picture format and a result of “0% similarity” will be considered as plagiarism
and will not be marked.
