to pick his own crew and lastly wanted all the weapons and gunpowder under his cabin, to

Answer: Jim lacks planning because he didn’t think he would eavesdrop on Silver’s
conversation while exploring wildlife. So, he listens in to their conversation hearing Silver
telling Tom to join the mutiny’s side, only to be interrupted by a long, horrible scream.
Tom, hearing the noise as well asks Silver what is going on, only to find out that Alan was
killed and the same thing would happen to him if he didn’t obey Silver. Tom still disowns
Silver as his friend and tries to walk off, but not before Silver leaping on him and stabbing
him twice with the knife. Seeing this, Jim begins to panic about being caught and thinking
about the other men on his side, what would happen to the rest of them. It reminded the
readers that he is still young to witness a homicide and to make a
decision.
