INTERNET

It is a global system of interconnected computer networks that use the standard Internet
Protocol Suite (often called TCP/IP, although not all applications use TCP) to serve billions
of users worldwide. It is a network of networks that consists of millions of private, public,
academic, business, and government networks, of local to global scope, that are linked by
a broad array of electronic, wireless and optical networking technologies. The Internet has
enabled and accelerated new forms of human interactions through instant messaging,
Internet forums, and social networking. The Internet carries an extensive range of
information resources and services, such as the inter-linked hypertext documents of the
World Wide Web (WWW) and the infrastructure to support email.

Now Let us understand-

Differences b/w WWW and Internet

Many people use the terms Internet and World Wide Web, but in fact
the two terms are not synonymous
.
The Internet and the Web are two separate but related things.  The Internet is a massive
network of networks.

It connects millions of computers together globally, forming a network in which any

computer can communicate with any other computer as long as they are both connected to
the Internet.

The World Wide Web, or simply Web, is a way of accessing information over the medium of
the Internet.

So the Web is just a portion of the Internet, albeit a large portion, but the two terms are not
synonymous and should not be confused.
