OPERATION SEQUENCE OF ASH HANDLING PLANT
The Control & sequential operation of Fly ash deashing fom ESP hoppers, APH hoppers &
Duct hoppers to Silo and wet slurry from collector tanks to slurry sump achieved through
Operator Station (OS), Which is mounted in Main Control Desk Console at ash handling plant
main control room. The Control & sequential operation of deashing from Botiom ash hoppers
to slurry sump is achieved through Bottom ash control panel as well as OWS, one no. of
bottom ash panel is provided for each unit with the system. Silo unloading system is achieved
through Silo Control Panel ic. installed at Silo MCC room.
COMMON STEP:
1. Tapping shall be taken from the instrument air. Instrument air fulfills the requirement of
Instrument air for complete ash handling system for fou: units.
Give start command to one no. LP seal water pump for the sealing purpose of the AHP
equipments such es Vacuum pumps, Clinker grinders and Bottom ash overflow water
pumps ete

04,06, 07,08, 09 and 40 of Annexure-I,
‘The bottom ash deashing is achieved through Bottom Ash Control Panel (BACP) as well as
OS; Boitom Ash Control Panel is mounted near Bottom Ash Hopper. One no, of Bottom Ash
Control Panel is provided for each unit with the system. In auto mode bottom ash deashing is
also achieved through OS,
1. Before giving start command to Bottom ash deashing system from Bottom ash Control
Panel (BACP), Control room operator should check following points.
a) Instrument air pressure is adequate in bottom ash arca.
b) LP seal water pressure is adequate for clinker grinder sealing
Open command to Bottom ash discharge valve for selected line by selector switch, i.e.
mounted on BACP.
3. Select Hydro-cjector water valve line corresponding to clinker grinder & discharge valve
1A/IB or 1C/1D. For runing CG-1A give open command to bottom ash discharge valve-
1A from BACP. Similarly for CG-LB give open command to bottom ash discharge valve-
IB, for CG-1C give open command to bottom ash discharge valve-1C and for CC-ID

from operator station in AHP control room to meet the water requirement for jet pumps and
flushing nozzles of BA system. Each HPWP will meet the water requirement of one (1)
unit.
‘Then give the forward start command to clinker grinder from Bottom ash panel. After
starting, red lamp will glow on the OS as well as bottom ash panel. Operator near bottom
ash area should physical check the grinders & chain rotation,
6. Then give open command to Bottom ash hopper gate through selector switch at
BACP.Then slurry collected in feed sump will be discharged into ash slurry sump through
jet pumps.
7. After completion of bottom ash deashing operator should check the bottom portion of
hopper in inspection window, which is mounted on the Bottom ash hopper gate,
8. Before stop command to clinker grinder, hopper flushing is necessary
manually operated plug valves.

9. After hopper flushing, Bottom Ash Hopper Gate to be closed by selector switch from
BACP,
10. Then bottom ash hopper to be filled by BALP water pump (BALPWP-A, B, C or D). The
BA operator shall check the overflow line if water starts coming out from this line, it means
hopper has been filled.
1. After BA hopper filling, manually operated plug valves should be close & desshing will
compleie.
