The following complaint letter is written by third year mechanical engineering students.

First, we would like to request the department to take this letter in a positive way so that the
matter would be resolved efficiently. We wanted to bring light on the troubles we have faced
throughout the duration of three semesters.

AAiT have provided us with the best instructors and they all are teaching us in the best way, but
we have encountered problems with our instructor, Mr. Tesfaye Gonite. We have faced teaching
and behavioral problems from the instructor.

Here, listed are some of the problems faced by the students:


1) None of the students have a keen knowledge of what have been taught by the instructor
mentioned above and this occurred due to the instructor’s inability to teach the subject
matter
2) The instructor gives projects and assignments which was not taught nor known to the
students by him
3) The instructor degrades students while in the classroom and outside the classroom
4) It is by the courses given by this instructor many have gotten a Fail grade in which this is
not exhibited by/with other instructors
5) On Machine Elements II course, the instructor had promised that the final was open book
(formulas would be given) as it is a vast course with numerous formulas but not one
formula was given. The final took place as a closed book exam.
The courses that were given by the instructor were: Strength of Materials I, Machine Elements I, and
Machine Elements II

We, the students, submitted this petition beforehand because the above courses that we took are the
backbone for mechanical engineering students and it is not being taught well. Therefore since the
instructor has been assigned to another major course, Machine Design I, we would not want to miss this
course also without learning/grasping it as we should.
The

problems that are listed above are the problems faced by each and every one of the mechanical third year
students. If the department were to interview each student, the department would receive much more
complaints about the instructor but due to the lack of time and energy this letter was compiled by just
taking the common problem faced.
Therefore we would like to request the department to take this issue seriously and take action as learning
is the major part of our lives. We kindly request for him to be changed for our Machine Design I course.
We would like to thank you beforehand for taking this matter seriously.
This letter has been signed by the students of third year mechanical students and the signed form is
attached along herewith this letter.
