MODEL CL−600−2B16
There were reports on several electric fuel boost pump (fuel boost pump) leakages
that were found during inspection in service and production aircraft. Fuel leakage at
the APU and engine electric fuel boost pump wiring harness conduit were located
on the front spar and in the connector cavity of the boost pump. The fuel leakage is
caused either by low pinch of the o−ring at the cartridge connector location, the
same O−ring rolling onto itself during insertion or by a protective sleeve
interference at the connector harness conduit B−nut interface with the boost pump
canister.

Objective/Benefit:

The Service Bulletin gives instructions to replace the existing O−rings with the new
O−rings and a custom made O−ring on the cartridges. Removal of the protective
sleeve on each of the connector harness assemblies or replacement of the
damaged connector harness assemblies in the canister.

C. Description

This Service Bulletin gives instructions in PART A, to inspect the fuel boost pump
canister (601R62181−1):
− Get access to the LH engine fuel boost pump, RH engine fuel boost pump and
the APU fuel boost pump canisters,
− Remove and discard the protective sleeve from the connector harness assy and
remove sealant (if applicable) from the cover of the connector cavity. Inspect the
connector harness assy for damage after sleeve removal and sealant removal
(if applicable), and
− Replace the O−ring, Part No. MS29513−027, on the cover of the connector
cavity after sleeve removal, sealant removal (if applicable) and wiring harness
inspection.

This Service Bulletin gives instructions in PART B, to modify the fuel boost pump
canister (601R62181−1) after inspection:
− Install new connector harness assy if deemed necessary after inspection,
− Replace the O−ring, Part No. MS29513−027, on the cover of the connector
cavity if the connector harness assy was replaced, and
− Update the canister amendment plate as “B”.

This Service Bulletin gives instructions in PART C, to modify the fuel boost pump
cartridges (601R62181−5) and/or (601R62181−7):
− Get access to the LH engine fuel boost pump, RH engine fuel boost pump and
the APU fuel boost pump cartridges,
− Remove and discard the cartridges O−rings,
− Install the new O−ring kit, Part No. KP99−1546,
− For the LH and RH engine fuel boost pumps, the existing O−rings
MS29513−118, MS29513−034, MS29513−142 are replaced with new O−rings
CJ0074, M25988−3−034 and M25988−3−142. The new custom made O−ring
(CJ0074) is introduced at the connector cavity interface on the cartridge,

Basic Issue: Jun 16/2020 605−28−012

MODEL CL−600−2B16
− For the APU fuel boost pump, O−ring M25988−3−118 is replaced by the new
custom made O−ring CJ0074 at the connector cavity interface on the cartridge.
O−rings M25988−3−034 and M25988−3−142 on the cartridge remain the same,
and
− Reidentify the cartridge as 601R62181−11 (Engine fuel boost pump cartridge)
and/or 601R62181−13 (APU fuel boost pump cartridge).

After PART A, PART B and PART C:

− Do the necessary tests to make sure that the system operates correctly.

E. Testing

(1) Do the static leak test of the canister before installation of the cartridge as
follows:

(a) Refuel the applicable fuel tank (Auxiliary tank, RH and LH wing tank) with
a minimum of 3200 lbs of fuel in each tank. Refer to AMM
12−11−28−650−801.
(b) Wait four hours and verify there is no leak inside the connector cavity of
the canister and at the outlet of the conduits carrying the connector
harness assy:

(i) If the belly fairing on the applicable side has not been removed,
remove one belly fairing screw located at FS412.00, BL0.0
(approximately). Keep the screw to re−install later. Refer to Figure 6.
(ii) For LH boost pump: conduit MPE1QA at front spar (if Left forward
wing−to−fuselage fairing (191BB) was removed). Otherwise, proceed
with a leakage inspection at location shown in Figure 6.
(iii) For RH boost pump: conduit MPE2QA at front spar (if Right forward
wing−to−fuselage fairing (192BB) was removed). Otherwise, proceed
with a leakage inspection at location shown in Figure 6.
(iv) For APU boost pump: Conduit MPE1KD at the front spar (RH landing
