Sexual What is sexual orientation?

Orientation is a term used to refer to a person’s emotional, romantic and sexual attraction to
individuals of a particular gender.

Sexual orientation is divided into three categories:

1. Heterosexual- is when people are attracted to someone of the opposite sex.
2. Homosexual- is one who is attracted to another person of the same sex.
3. Bisexual- when people are attracted to both the genders i.e. male as well as female.

 Types of Sexual Orientation

Pansexuality - People who are attracted to others regardless of sex or gender (attraction to people who identify as
male, female, transgender, intersex, third gender & etc). “Pansexual” is derived from the Greek prefix “pan,”
meaning “all”.

Aromanticism - People who do not feel romantic desire are considered aromantic. They often be misconstrued as “not
having found the right person.” Aromantic asexuals are not interested in pursuing either sexual or romantic
relationships with others
Androsexuality/Androphilia - is defined as attraction to men, males, and/or masculinity. A heterosexual woman and
a gay man are both androphillic as they are sexually interested in males.
Gynesexuality/Gynephilia - People who are erotically attracted to women, females, and/or femininity. Heterosexual
man and a lesbian woman are gynephillic in that they are attracted to women and sexually drawn to feminine qualities
Sapiosexual -is when a person is sexually aroused with someone’s intelligence. They can be of any gender and the
person they are attracted to can be of either gender too because they are primarily attracted to their intelligence and
not their gender.
Polysexuality - These are people who are more than bisexual but less than pansexual. They are somewhere in-between
as they can be attracted to a lot of genders but not all.
Graysexual/Gray-Asexuality - is for those people who are not always sexually attracted. They have a low sex drive and
they seldom get aroused. However, graysexual people are not asexual and they may get sexually attracted to someone
at some point.
Autosexual - is someone who is not sexually satisfied by any particular gender, because an autosexual person is sexually
attracted to oneself. They find themselves so sexually attractive that no one else can satisfy them completely.
