o Assisting in the insertion of the urinary catheter and gaining access for the
intravenous fluid.
o Maintaining aseptic technique when providing wound care.
o Performing procedures like collecting specimens for laboratory tests, measuring the
daily intake and output and administration of parenteral medications.
o Preparing and giving emotional support to the patient who will undergo surgery.
o Providing health teachings to the patient regarding the rights and information they
needed.
o Performing post-mortem care.

Emergency Room
o Providing immediate assessment and first aid treatment during urgent situations.
o Assessing and triaging patients based on their critical nature.
o Preparing and administering ER medications as ordered by the physician.
o Performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and electrocardiogram (ECG),
performing sensitivity test prior to administration of antibiotics.
o Assisting the doctors during suturing of laceration and any other open wounds.

Delivery Room
o Monitoring of vital signs including the fetal heart tone, cervical dilatation and
effacement.
o Providing health teachings including the proper bearing down during delivery to
prevent lacerations.
o Providing emotional support to the mother while in pain.
o Documenting the exact date and time of the delivery, including the gender of the
newborn, providing proper identification of the newborn right after delivery.
Operating Room
o Preparing the patient before and after the surgery.
o Assisted in caesarean section (CS), appendectomy, and open reduction and internal
fixation (ORIF).
o Assisting the surgeons during the surgery.
o Maintaining the sterile technique, ensuring that all instruments were counted
complete before and after closure of the surgical site.
o Assessing the patient for post-operation complications.

o Establishing rapport to develop and gain trust and to build therapeutic nurse-client
relationship.
o Utilizing therapeutic communication in dealing with psychiatric clients.
