Doctors are medical professionals who examine, diagnose, treat and counsel patients. They would
prescribe treatments and medications or even surgeries accordingly. Doctors work in large hospitals to
offer treatment in all branches covered under the medical specialties, in multi-specialty hospitals, clinics,
nursing homes. They can also offer services for the Ministry of Defense or for government hospitals.
They also work towards educating and spreading awareness in public to prevent spreading of various
diseases and illnesses.

Licensing Procedure
The Permanent registration certificate along with the "MCI Registration number" (i.e., the license to
practice) and the final MBBS degree is given only after obtaining a Compulsory Rotatory Residential
Internship (CRRI) completion certificate.
A Doctor registered with any one State Medical Council gets his name automatically included in the
Indian Medical Register and he/she is thereby entitled to practice medicine anywhere in India.
Internship/Training
Compulsory Rotatory Residential Internship (CRRI) refers to one-year compulsory work in the hospital
attached to the medical college or in any other approved hospital as is allowed in some medical colleges.
This is required for the award of the MBBS degree in India. The intern is also given a monthly stipend.
The amount may vary from one college to another.
Completion of internship is a necessary pre-requisite for award of the degree, license to practice
medicine and for postgraduate studies or higher specialty training.
Scholarships
All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) offers Merit-Cum-Means Based Scholarship to
needy meritorious students for MBBS/BDS.
Ministry of Minority Affairs, Govt. of India offers Merit cum Means Scholarship (MOMA
Scholarship) to the MBBS students belonging to the minority community and who are not
financially strong.
All India Scholarship Entrance Examination (AISEE) is a non-government organization, which
provide Medical Scholarship for college students.
The Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana (KVPY) is an on-going National Program of Fellowship
is initiated and funded by the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India. It
attracts exceptionally highly motivated students for pursuing research career in science.
Manipal University offers Free-ship & Merit-cum-Means Scholarship to top performing

The salary depends upon how much knowledge & experience you have. The initial salary of a medical
graduate doctor may be INR 30,000 to INR 40,000 per month. After getting the experience and good
hands on in this field, the candidate may get the handsome salary as 10 to 15 lakh per annum.
