Pakistan is an oil-importing developing country where the oil and gas sector is important for boosting the economy and living standards. An increase in petrol prices would negatively impact transportation, communication, petrochemical industries and electricity generation - all sectors that directly or indirectly use petrol and petroleum products. This would lower overall output and economic activity in Pakistan and potentially increase unemployment levels.
