8 Course Description This is a 3-unit course, which deals with professional ethics related to the
practices of chemical engineering together with the different laws governing
the same. In the practice of this profession where legalities are inevitable,
contracts, obligations and specifications will be incorporated to reinforce and
corroborate possible cases.
9 Course Learning The course CHE 527: Chemical Engineering Laws, Contracts,
Outcomes specification and Ethics prepares you, as a future chemical
engineer, to demonstrate all the intended course learning
outcomes as per CHED Memorandum Order (CMO) 91 series of
2017. At the end of the course, you should be able to
CLO 1: Inculcate thorough understanding of laws,
contracts, specifications and ethics.
CLO 2: Implant thorough understanding of Contracts and
obligation
CLO 3: Enhance capability to write Resume, Engineering
specifications and Technical papers
CLO 4: Inculcate value — based ethics in the professional
practice and the ability to apply the theories and principles
of laws, contracts and specification to the practice of
chemical engineering

10 Learners' Profile and The students enrolled in this course are on their 5th year and last
Context semester of academic study in the university. They have previously
joined the 4-day field trip in past semesters.
CHED COVID Advisory No. 6 states:
In connection with the Memorandum from the Executive Secretary
dated 7 April 2020 which provides for the continuation of the
enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) and the stringent social
distancing measures (SSDM) to cover the entire Luzon until 30
April 2020, the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) hereby
issues the advisory to all HEIs in the country. This advisory should
be read in conjunction with previously issued CHED Advisories on
COVID 19 (Nos. 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5).
For degree programs such as accountancy, engineering, hospitality
management, computer studies, industrial technology, and other
non-health related programs,
• Students undergoing On-the-Job Training/Internship where
the students have been pulled out of their respective training
centers and transferred to the University/College due to the ECQ
should not be allowed to go back to their respective companies of
offices. The total number of training hours earned in their
respective training centers prior to the implementation of the ECQ
shall be considered and credited by HEIs.
• HEIs through their respective Student Internship Program
(SIP) Supervisors/Head/Coordinator shall exercise discretion in
facilitating flexible learning activities based on the established
training plan of the program, to comply with the remaining
number of required training hours.
• Alternative learning activities such as modules, self-

directed learning activities, case studies, assignments or other
related activities performed by the student-trainees in the
offices/laboratories shall be part of the portfolio to be submitted
by the trainees.
• The Student Internship Program Coordinator (SIP) shall be
responsible in assessing/evaluating the outputs of the student-
trainees and in the computation and submission of their grades.
CHED COVID ADVISORY No. 7, reiterates:
On Conduct of Classes, OJT and Internships
1. OJT and internship programs (foreign and local) remain
suspended until ECQ, MECQ, GCQ, and MGCQ has been lifted.
However, for HEIs in MGCQ areas, in-campus OJT and internship
programs can be authorized provided there is strict compliance
with physical distancing and other health protocols
2. No residential (face-to-face/in-person) mode of instruction until
31 August 2020;
11 Assessment and The course has formative and summative assessment activities
Evaluation Details that will be administered via online communications, mainly
Google Classroom. The evaluative assessments are graded
activities designed to determine if your acquisition of learning
and performance in tests is at par with standards set at certain
milestones in this course.
There will be no offline mode for this course due to the necessity
of constant feedback and monitoring of student outputs.
12 Monitoring Details The students shall be monitored through the SLU student portal
and through their participation in the Google Classroom
Discussion Forum and other online webinars.
13 Technological Support The delivery of the course will require the use of the SLU
subscribed Google Suite, SLU E-Learning Resources, and SLU
Student Portal.
14 Course Budget There shall be no additional cost that will be included in the
regular fees of the students .
