Mixed Methods

A mixed methods research design collects and analyzes both quantitative and qualitative data within a single study. There are three main types of mixed methods designs: 1) Triangulation design which places equal emphasis on both forms of data; 2) Explanatory design which prioritizes quantitative data to identify results needing further explanation via qualitative data; and 3) Exploratory design which prioritizes qualitative data to develop instruments or theories to then test quantitatively.
