Introduction to TECHNOPRENEURSHIP

Lesson 1
The field of technology entrepreneurship is in its infancy when compared to other fields such as
economics, entrepreneurship, and management. 
Technology entrepreneurship has more to do with collaborative production based on a shared
vision of future changes in technology.

Definition of Terms
Technology

“the application of scientific knowledge for practical purposes, especially in industry”

ENTREPRENUER
An innovator or developer who recognizes and seizes opportunities; converts
these opportunities into workable/marketable ideas; adds value through time, effort, money or skills;
assumes the risks of the competitive marketplace to implement these ideas; realizes the rewards
from these efforts.(Kuratko & Hodgetts,2007)

ENTREPRENEURSHIP?
Entrepreneurship is the practice of embarking on a new business or reviving an existing business by
pooling together a bunch of resources in order to exploit new found opportunities.

Technopreneur
defies the present economic order by ideating a product or service that uses
technological solutions to change the traditional way of doing something.
Generally speaking, a technopreneur is a tech-savvy, creative, driven, innovative and
dynamic person who thinks out of the box. 
Technopreneurship:
comprises identifying modern technologies and even creation of technological
opportunities by the presentation of commercial products and services.” – Blanco, 2007
