Problem Statement:
Bioinformatics is the science of storing, retrieving, and analyzing a large amount of biological
information. It combines biology, computer science, information engineering, mathematics, and
statistics to analyze and interpret biological data. The best application of bioinformatics is Computer-

Aided Drug Designing, in which we can use computers to make a life-saving drug in very little time as
compared to conventional drug discovery techniques.
According to a recent forecast, the global bioinformatics market is expected to reach USD 13.90
billion by 2023 from USD 7.06 billion in 2018, at a CAGR of 14.5%. But unfortunately, this unique
technology (Bioinformatics) has no Scope in Pakistan, and almost 90% of graduates are unemployed
after graduation. Even you can’t get the job of 15k P.K.R. after B.S. Many graduates are changing their
domain after graduation, going for M.B.A., banking side, providing part-time tuitions or any other field
to meet their expenses. There is no industry of Bioinformatics in Pakistan.
Even we don’t have a bioinformatics industry in Pakistan but a student can offer their bioinformatics
services as a freelancer to other countries by sitting at home
Management Dilemma:
The management dilemma is a symptom of an actual problem. Our research question is:
Why there is no scope for Bioinformatics in Pakistan? Or why there are no jobs for bioinformatics
graduates in Pakistan
Management question: How could we create job opportunities for bioinformatics graduates?
Concept:
A concept is a bundle of meanings or characteristics associated with certain events, objects,
conditions, situations, and behaviors. We design hypotheses using concepts.
Below are some key points which we extracted from problem statement concepts:
1) Bioinformatics is the marriage between computer science and biology.
2) The most important application of bioinformatics is CADD.
3) In bioinformatics, your computer could be your laboratory.
4) The global bioinformatics market is expected to reach USD 13.90 billion by 2023 from USD 7.06 billion
in 2018, at a CAGR of 14.5%.
5) There is no industry of Bioinformatics in Pakistan.

Construct:
A construct is an image or idea specifically invented for a given research and/or theory-building purpose
First, we need to understand Maslow’s Hierarchy of needs which suggests that there are 5 needs that a
person wants to fulfill in his life, Physiological, safety, social, self-esteem, and self-actualization. The
purpose of bioinformatics is to analyze the biological data and publish a paper that comes under self-
actualization which comes under the top of Maslow’s Hierarchy of needs pyramid.

Hypothesis Formulation:
NULL: Pakistan is a third-world country where even people don’t have basic needs so how do they think
for self-actualization?
Alternative: People want self-esteem (respect) and self-actualization even if they don’t have basic things
to full fill their needs
Prediction: People want self-actualization even if they don’t have the resources to fulfill their basic
needs
Questionnaire:
To test the prediction and derive a conclusion from it we should develop a questionnaire or survey for
people

1) Do you want to admit to the Bioinformatics Bachelors Program at any university in Pakistan after your
intermediate?
2) What is your percentage in intermediate?
3) Do you want to pursue your higher studies abroad after graduation?
4) How will you see yourself in the future after graduating from the bioinformatics field?
5) What will you prefer after graduation? Freelance work or 9 to 5 job?
6) How much salary you will expect?
7) Do you want the HEC curriculum of bioinformatics according to modern advancement?
Conclusion:
After taking opinions from the population we conclude that people want to learn bioinformatics even
this field has no industry currently in Pakistan. But as we know everything is now shifting towards
robotics so the future of bioinformatics is very bright
